Big fan of Weinerschnitzel here. Moved from El Paso where it was at least a once a week family favorite. When I moved to Houston I'd actually bring back Weinerschnitzel on the plane so my husband could try. Saw this location announced, built, and finally open after about 15 years of not having one in Houston. Watched in delight as family and friends have now tried them and we frequent this establishment all the time, it's been fantastic. That being said, 3 star review bc however you hired recently that has been changing things little by little needs to be quickly fired. Not saying this as an angry customer but as a loyal one offering you free advice. Hwy 6 has a lot of competition and word travels fast. Your brand, your strong suit are of course your dogs at a reasonable price, but also your generous portion when it comes to chili cheese fries and your free perks like cut raw onions. We as customers know we are paying for things that even in these times are dirt cheap, hot dogs and fries, at a little bit of a premium bc we love Weinerschnitzel specifically. You already charged ridiculous prices for any drink. When you start charging for raw onions and cutting your portions, your brand is blown, your customer is annoyed, and what you are actually doing is giving them a huge opening to consider another establishment just down the road. Get rid of her or put your foot down on this chincy management. Please, pretty please, with some raw onions on top.
Update: The owner's corpo speak of acknowledging the customer, telling the customer fu, then offering a personal anecdote to sweeten up the fu falls flat in these times. Don't be fooled, this location is cutting their portions and charging for fresh onions when the company only charged for sauteed onions previously. My loyalty goes to management that appreciates it and doesn't want to nickel and dime me for something they never have before, while charging already laughable prices for any drink. Bye Weinerschnitzel, hello Whataburger, El Bollilo, Los Agaves, Pan Rico, pretty much...
Read moreI haven't eaten at Der Wienerschnitzel for 48 years. Not since I was ten years old in Santa Barbara, California, where the rich people ate. I remember it being fantastic and a celebration of life event to eat there. Something we couldn't afford to do often, and then I didn't see one for years. I brought my wife and child to this one. The people were kind, and sweet, the restaurant was clean and tidy. It surprised me to be absent of people. We planned to eat at home, but ate in the car. Very few times do things live up to the memory, but this is one of those rare occasions. We loved it and considered going in there and getting another, but were too embarrassed. My hotdog (beef) was succulent and my kid has declared she won't eat any hotdog unless it has chili on it. It was just a great as I remembered. But surely the root beer float wouldn't be, couldn't be... I've made them myself and they're never good. These were better than anything I ever made myself, and as great as I remembered as a child. I wanted to cry. When is it that you actually find something as good as it was when you were a kid? Virtually never. Suddenly my mom was alive again, and I was in 5th grade with my whole life ahead of me. It was a glorious Ramatoulie moment and I am...
Read moreWe enjoy eating Wienershnitzel so much! It brings back memories of our childhood. So we were so excited to see this place opened not to far from us. It all taste about the same but my husband does miss their cheese slices on the hot dogs. They use shredded cheese now. It's funny how those little things can change the flavor. We still enjoyed the hot dogs and chili cheese fries. They have a lot of fun new dessert items now. They also sell their chili in a can now. This location is so nice and clean. The people there are as friendly as can be. They also all work so hard everything I have been there on a Saturday. There service is exceptional. Wienershnitzel is the best chili dogs in town!...
