In as much as i do not like to give negative reviews, it’s inevitable for this location.
First, the workers were not nice, also had a problem that we wanted to buy a large quantity (150$), finally the taste was awful.
Location is over hyped, I found a better Suya spot right beside the location…
Edit: Well, ordinarily I wouldn’t feel the need to respond again, but I see the owner did not take responsibility nor words of accountability, but perhaps this will also serve to help other business owners.
The owners response reflects a certain mindset — if I were in your position, I would take the time to investigate what happened. That includes speaking with your staff about the purchases made on the specific date, and perhaps reaching out to other customers who ordered around the same time to gather their feedback. This could help you verify and better understand the concerns raised in my review.
If my review were simply an attempt to promote a competitor, I would have mentioned the name of the other suya place — which, by the way, actually had better suya.
Just for clarity: we bought the large pan ($150) along with Asun and others. Typically, Asun is normally & consistently good regardless of where it’s bought — often even more enjoyable than suya. Unfortunately, the experience at your place has genuinely affected my taste and appetite for Asun moving forward.
My review was written with the intention of helping you improve and to assist other customers in making an informed decision.
I sincerely wish your business...
Read moreToday, I came to Suya On The Spot excited to finally find African food near my home. I ordered the jollof rice with turkey. The rice was fresh and flavorful — definitely the highlight of the meal.
Unfortunately, the turkey was extremely tough — I couldn’t even cut it with a fork. I had noticed earlier that the meat appeared pre-cooked and asked if it would be fresh. I was told it would be, but that wasn’t the case.
I called to express my dissatisfaction and was told I could bring the turkey back and they’d substitute it with chicken. When I returned, a woman with gold or silver teeth asked what was wrong with it, and as I began to explain, she rolled her eyes and dismissed me mid-sentence. Her attitude was unwelcoming and rude.
I wasn’t asking for an upgrade or a refund — just a simple swap to something even less expensive. But the lack of courtesy and professionalism really turned me off.
As a Black woman, I was genuinely hoping to support a Black-owned business, but this kind of experience is exactly what discourages repeat visits. The food had potential, but the poor customer service overshadowed everything else. I won’t be...
Read moreI wanted some Suya. I pass this place up on my way home. I looked them up and I called In my order. I told the girl on the phone that I did not want Onions. She asked if I wanted Cabbage and I asked her did it come with it and she said Yes. So I said Yes. I got to the place and looked around at the drinks that they offered. I paid and they packaged my food. I inquired about the Goat that they sell on the weekends for $10. The guy showed me the very small plastic container that it comes in. I won't be buying Goat from there. I get in the car and open the container and the Cabbage was raw. I was very puzzled. I thought that it would be cooked. They could've kept that. Lol! So then I had to go and buy some cooked Cabbage since I was expecting Cabbage, which led me to call Jabari Isle Sizzle. I did eat a few pieces of the Suya and I loved the spice which I got Spicy. Some of the meat was too tough though. I've bought Suya from several places and I shouldn't be tough to chew.
