Even though the atmosphere at Amerigo’s is quite nice, i was sadly let down with the service, food, and cost. 3 hours start to finish is beyond slow for a table with two people. I could not understand the server at all and had to ask him to repeat himself numerous times. The Caesar salad was overloaded with sun-dried tomatoes, I never had them on a caesar salad, but i was willing to give it a shot…quickly decided that one in every bite was overkill, not to mention the dressing was entirely too fishy! So, i sent it back and tried the rice and mushroom soup. The flavor was good…however it could’ve been a hot milkshake, it was a bit on the creamy side. I ordered the eggplant dish which i would give a 8.5 out of 10. Would’ve been closer to a 10 with fresh parmesan…but unfortunately i was never offered it and my server was rarely available. My Pellegrino glass stood empty for at least 15 minutes, I even picked it up and gently waved it …but no response. I finally had to retrieve the bottle from the ice bath stand and refill it myself. Now dessert should always be a delicious treat to wrap up a fine dining experience! Trust me it wasn’t !!! Apparently they are made in house, I ordered the chocolate cake, at least, that is what i thought I ordered. It was very very cold, almost frozen, certainly not a cake. Closer to a cross between a fudge and a cheesecake. Once it thawed some ( do you really serve it when you can’t eat it yet?) I thought the flavor was good, could use something creamy to break up the strong chocolate….instead there was a big ‘blob like’ attempt of a decorative something or other that had a mystery taste or tartness bleegch. It did not accent the ‘cake?’ or enhance it either. Overall I do not think my experience was worth the money I paid. I would put Amerigo’s up against Sacred Pepper in Tampa, and Sacred Pepper wins by a land slide in...
Read moreIt's really unfortunate that there is not an option for negative stars because that's the rating I would rather go with than give this establishment even one. We were not dressed in our finest clothes but wanted to try this place out as a potential option for our rehearsal dinner for our summer wedding. We chose to go anyway in our casual wear and were sat in the back near the kitchen. We were a little put off by this, but shook it off because we were excited to try the food and atmosphere. All of the wait staff kept giving us side eyes or looks that we did not belong there. It got to the point where my fiance asked me if we needed to leave because we were so uncomfortable to which I told him no. He ordered the calamari appetizer which he orders anytime he sees it on a menu and said it was the worst calamari he's ever had. Shortly after they brought bread which we barely had any time to eat. I had one slice before they took my plate away. Before our main course, our waiter never came to check on us and neither did any of the other wait staff except for the men who brought water. They were the nicest people the entire time because they actually spoke to us. We both got our pasta and were very underwhelmed. I asked if they had any sort of fried mozzerrella before our meal as well because I thought I saw something on the menu, and our waiter said I could order a salad that had cheese on it like I was dumb. I felt extremely out of place and will never go here again. Unless you look like you're going to The MET Gala and don't care how your food tastes, please do...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I went with a group for prom, and both of us decided it was not worth the price at all.
I got a pasta entree with shirmp and crab, she got a chicken entree, also with pasta Mine was $35 and hers $30 and there was an unoptional gratuity of ~20%. the cheapest option on the menu was the sides at $7. Their options were not very varied either, with the entire menu being limited to two pages.
The serving sizes were reasonable, but the taste was not great. My shrimp were tough and overcooked, the crab also tough, the pasta didn't taste very good either (my dad cooks better shrimp)
My friends there also disliked their food, and only one other along with me actually finished their order.
The waiter was helpful in telling me what was in the entrees that I couldn't pronouce, the food is better at Olive Garden and more varied, and the atmosphere was not as peaceful as a few other reviewers said.
Overall, this restaurant is not worth the cost whatsoever, I paid $80.80 for two entrees which, considering the quality and portion size, I might have thought ~$30 reasonable, with the tip. And I've eaten out at other restaurants where there was more food, it was tastier, and still cheaper.
Last thing. I trust reviews that are much more in detail beyond just "Great food, Loved it" and a 5 star rating... And that Google discription, "Live piano tunes, an ambitious menu and extensive wine list?" Really? I heard no live piano, and the menu was quite underwhelming. I can't speak to the wine because I didn't look at it, but I wouldn't be surprised for...
