Third Gen Coffee — Restaurant in The Woodlands

I started going to 3rd Gen around the time the pandemic let up to get things to-go in 2020 and continued to come by when I went back to school in a neighboring city. On weekends I’d make the 45 minute drive with friends, go before trips, and especially drive out on days when I needed a little burst of joy. On occasion I sat in to study in 2022. The staff was always so friendly, I never once got a wrong order! Nothing— and I mean nothing beats a 3rd Generation Latte. I have been to plenty of coffee shops all over since but the richness of the espresso and the smooth consistency of their lattes has never been matched. I can pin point a time when I made a trip over and after paved a plan for a community organization that ended up coming to full life and connected a lot of good folks through the years. Someone asked me once, ‘How did you get the idea to do this?’ And I thought back to sitting in a sunny corner of my room after a lovely trip to my favorite coffee shop. Yes, big things can spark from some kindness and a few sips of coffee. It’s been 3 years since the highlight of my day was a 3rd Gen trip during an odd and isolating time—and I now live thousands of miles away with a life I thought could only be imagined. Sometimes I get a real pinch of gratitude/nostalgia and miss the time that now feels so far away… and of course miss the best coffee I have ever had. 3rd Gen has a special place in my heart and story. If I can’t be there to support their business, I hope this review convinces you to. Enjoy it! I had a very upsetting experience at this coffee shop. My husband went inside to order two lattes while I sat outside at one of the picnic tables to finish a breakfast sandwich I had just gotten (I’m four months pregnant and can’t eat most of the items on their menu so I sat outside to finish it before going in to be respectful). The owner came out and told me that the tables were for customers only and no outside food was allowed. I explained that I was a customer but understood and would throw the food away immediately.

When my husband came out with the coffee he threw away the food and she returned and began speaking to my husband about it AGAIN after the food was gone in a raised tone, repeating that she asked us bc to have food there was disrespectful and rude and started to go in on insults towards us. Even though we complied and threw away the food, she continued confronting us, which made us uncomfortable.

During this time, we observed other guests sitting inside upstairs food, and some with no coffee or food from the establishment so it felt like we were being treated differently. This made the interaction even more upsetting.

I hope the management takes this as feedback to handle situations more calmly and consistently. Based on our experience, I would never recommend this place its supposed to be a local coffee shop and it was traumatizing to...

Cute little shop tucked away in The Woodlands, Third Gen Coffee earns 5-stars for Everything! This is the coffee shop that I tell all my friends about. The baristas are so nice and every drink I've ordered so far (iced matcha, iced vanilla latte, chai iced and hot) has been so good that I literally feel sorrow when I reach the bottom of the cup.

They offer pastries including cookies, muffins, bagels and more. I've only tried the cookie but it was soft, chewy and delicious 😋

The decor is cozy with lots of plants all around, which I love. The atmosphere is quiet enough to work for hours without headphones in and the bathroom is very spacious and clean. I've never waited longer than 2 minutes for a drink even during busy times and it's always great service with a smile. I'm not a big coffee drinker, so I'm that annoying "what should I get?" person, and the staff always recommends something great based on my preferences.

The regulars are very friendly too (wait, am I becoming a regular? 😂)

I can't suggest/endorse Third Gen Coffee enough! I love coming here to work and everyone I've suggested it to has enjoyed it. Loyal customer forever!
