I came to this establishment after seeing them on social media via The Black Foodies. I came specifically for their steak/hoagie lunch special which is BOGO from 10am - 2pm. I missed the special time frame but still gave this place a try ordering one steak sandwich and their 10 ring special.
The place is a bare bones no thrills and frills. Originally the building was a Checker's so I appreciate when a new business comes into a community and at least attempts to make old real estate work so there isn't just abandoned real estate in the community. However; I don't think that this old building is conducive to their business as the parking and drive through is awkward to navigate. You can step in for ordering but the space is relatively small. So the inside and the drive through get packed pretty quickly so expect a wait (appx 5 minutes) because; even though they have a drive through this isn't fast food.
Now onto to the food. I'll start with the 10 wing special that I ordered with mild sauce on it. The wings came with a nice coating of lemon pepper. I didn't ask for that so if that's not your thing take note. They didn't put the mild sauce on the wings as I ordered but that was a blessing in disguise. This gave me an opportunity to try their chicken as is and for that I would give them the whole 5 stars.
Now I also ordered their version of Chicago's famous sweet steak sandwich. Flavor wise I can tell that they either came from Taurus or that's the flavor profile they were shooting for. If you go to a new place expecting the flavor profile of somewhere else; you'll always be disappointed. So judging them on their own merits I think that they're on to something but just not there yet. The sandwich is a pretty nice portion but it was kind of dry and the sauce is where the flavor of this particular definitely is. So if they sauce up the sandwich more so you get more of that very distinct flavor profile we identify with a steak sandwich; I think this could be a 5 too. But in its current state the way I tasted it I have to give it a 3. If you catch this during the BOGO time frame; I'd buy this again for value NOT flavor.
With that said: this is a place that I wouldn't suggest going out of your way to try. But if you're in the area I'd definitely suggest their...
Read moreI went to visit n patronize because of the black foodie-couple who visits and rate(s) varies of diff. food establishments. This restaurant 17200 S. Torrence was not very appealing had a very small waiting area. Just enough space w/ counters and to keep you outta the outside environment. I purchased a steak hoagie(for my sis.) and turkey lunch meat hoagie(for myself). I asked for sweet peppers on the last sandwich. My turkey sub. Sand. was presented to me w/ yell. banana peppers. Which upset me greatly. Because i always go into great many details of HOW I WANTED MY FOOD. Before home i Always look at food before i go home. The cashier told me they were outta the sweet peppers however the steak sand. had them on it?? Overall they took the turkey sandwich back and re-doctored it up. After,My experience that i had i shall NOT franchise W/ them again and advise others don't go there. Some customers that day claim they come for the...
Read moreLiterally the worst experience at a fast food place in my life! Horrible attitude, made the food incorrectly, wouldn’t remake it correctly nor refund my money. To make matters worse, the gentleman was very smug, dismissive and had the nerve to say you people always complaining about something always being wrong!
“You people” and “something always being wrong” were the two statements that lead to this review. I can tolerate bad service you know, you just never go back to the place, but the blatant disrespect, borderline racism, inability to accept accountability, and stealing people’s money by not providing adequate and competent service are extremely problematic and unacceptable.
Never again will you receive a penny from me and I will continue to urge and encourage every person I can to NOT DO BUSINESS here because of this egregious behavior!
“You people”, in 2024??...
