We have been coming here since they first opened several years ago. What used to be a weekly staple for us has really gone downhill in the last year and now we only eat here when my husband or I can convince the other to give them another chance to not suck.
As many others have mentioned, portions have gotten smaller while prices have increased. My husband got an $18 entree that only half-filled the small container it came in. Not sure if the business was sold or what but the management is noticeably worse.
Last night I placed a $60 online order at 6:47pm and the ordering system said it would be ready at 7:17pm. I showed up -- the woman working said she didn't "see" the order until now and it would be another 15-20 minutes. So I said ok, mistakes happen, no big deal. We got in the car and ran some errands to fill the time and came back for the new pickup time of 7:32pm. When I went inside for an update on my order, the woman did not even acknowledge that I was back, did not give me any kind of update, and I had to stand there in silence for another 10-15 minutes until my order was actually ready around 7:45pm.
Then when we got home we discovered the order was incorrect, despite the server going through the receipt and listing off every item in the bag to match the receipt.
Chicken satay comes on skewers like the picture on their website (and every other Thai place I've ever been to) and we got some kind of ground chicken dish in peanut sauce -- perhaps it was a version of chicken satay but certainly not what we ordered or what we expected based on the photo.
I also ordered combo protein in my pad see ew and the two shrimp that came in it are ~30% smaller than they used to be. This suggests to me that this place is not only skimping on portion sizes but also on quality of ingredients.
So my order took an entire hour to prepare only to be incorrect and the server never apologized or offered any kind of consolation for the long wait.
Suffice it to say they've lost two long-term customers after this episode. Don't waste your money. The old Country Thai was great but whoever is running the place now has a lot of work to do to rebuild...
Read moreGot Country Thai for the first time last night and everything was pretty good. The appetizers sampler was a good choice! It came with Chicken skewers, Thai dumplings, egg roll and crab Rangoon. Everything was well cooked very tasty. The peanut sauce that came with it was rich and creamy with robust flavors. I also had the Thai fried rice. It was okay. Nothing fancy. Not sure what the difference would be between the regular and the Thai fried rice is, maybe the seasoning. Next I got the shrimp and basil with extra vegetables. The sauce is very good. Unfortunately the shrimp is served tail on which to me is gross. I hate having to pick out the shrimp, remove the tail and either put it back in to get the sauce and veggie combo that creates a good bite, or eat it separately from everything. I was also disappointed with the portion size. For $19 plus it wasn't very big, especially since I paid an extra $3 for additional vegetables. I can't imagine how small the portion is with the normal amount of vegetables. Besides the tail on shrimp and small portion i still think it tasted very good and was extremely happy with the spice of the sauce. (Hot) overall it was pretty good. I would recommend giving...
Read moreCountry Thai used to be EXCELLENT. Great food, good portions and in years of eating there, our order was never wrong. Now they have new owners and the place SUCKS. We've tried it twice now and the 1st time we excused them because they were new. The order took soooo long and they gave my husband some spring rolls to eat while he waited (he said they were super greasy). We placed an order last night and it was quite disappointing. The country pad thai was a joke. It was just noodles and undercooked shrimp (EEK!) with no tofu, no chicken, no egg, no sprouts...wtf? We got massaman curry which used to be EXCELLENT. Now it's sickeningly sweet. Of course coconut milk has a sweetness to it but I think they're literally just putting sugar in their food. The pad thai, instead of having that tamarind tangy sweetness was just plain sweet. VERY DISAPPOINTING. Country Thai used to be great. Now its My Thai and Crepes (even the name is crap). I guess maybe the crepes are what they're good at because the food is bad. We have to find another...
