Sept 10, 2023 Re-up'd my review to 5-stars. I enjoy this location, the staff is friendly and attentive. They may have someone new, because I see reviews complaining of suspected racism, and another where a patron is actually being racist saying "person from Mexico". I find that disturbing because I've never had a problem getting seated, and sometimes the servers are busy and may overlook getting an order in. I don't understand why these people (it wasn't mentioned) weren't proactive about asking "hey will I be seated soon" or "my food is just eggs and bacon, is it coming soon?" ... anyway, since we're talking race, I am a white male 30's, and these things have happened to me but very rarely. I just had to add my experience on the issue, because I think a single visit shows some people might be overly sensitive to these issues. I'm also a minority and obviously gay. So what?
I didn't notice if the ants were addressed, but I do know these reviews are read and posted for mgmt and staff to read.
__ Previous Review Aug 2023 I'm dropping my 5-star review to 1 star hoping that the owners will notice. I've been coming here for years. Long enough to remember the servers: Maria, Trish, Lisa, and Alma. My issue is that this location has had an ant problem and it's never been taken care of. Tonight they were inside one of the syrup containers that I used on my pancakes. Disgusting. I hoped that it was taken care of with the nice remodel they did more recently. This place needs to be tented by a professional company, and servers need to stop putting pieces of cucumber on the windoe sill as a solution. I am well aware that the health dept dislikes chemicals being used in restaurants, but it's an easy solution to close off the far side of the restaurant and put down some bait traps from home depot for a few days. Ants carry it back to their tunnels and kill the colony. The ants enter and walk along the window sill on the freeway side of the building. It's mostly the second booth. This is ridiculous and sad, because without addressing these issues, the nice remodel is just "lipstick on a pig".
I'll check back in 30 days and see if things have improved and adjust my review then.
Past Review: Always with a positive customer service experience. This location exceeds my standards as a former manager in customer service. After visiting daily for 30 days and taking a table for an excessive amount of time, I have met Maria, Trish, and Lisa. Each time they have been accommodating and have never made me feel rushed while studying for my career in healthcare. My parents, my sister, my husband, my baby and I stopped by around 2:30-3:00 AM to grab something quick to eat as we were returning from vacation and we were driving for a while and built up an appetite. I’mWe had a waitress named Andrea and we’ve never had such lousy service before. I work at a dennys too as a waitress as well and this service was just embarrassing. The restaurant had just one other table when we got there and our food took like 20 minutes to come out. Our waitress was on her phone constantly. My husband and I both got Cali clubs with side salads. Our salads came like 20 minutes later ? Why? The salads are the easiest thing to make and don’t even take a minute to prepare. My husband asked for ranch, never got it. My sister asked for a FRIED Chicken Cobb salad and guess what she got. The waitress gave her a GRILLED chicken Cobb salad and the salad was missing the egg, the bacon, the avocado, the tomato, the potato sticks. She got a salad with just lettuce, cheese, and two little strips of GRILLED chicken. The chicken was pink and my sister had to give the chicken to her dogs and toss the rest of the salad. Waitress NEVER came to offer refills, we had to ask for them. We asked for creamers and never ever got them. We weren’t surprised since the rest of her service was disappointingly underwhelming. I confronted the waitress and told her how some elements of our food was missing and instead of offering to fix it, she just offered a lousy discount? The discount took off around 10 dollars but that didn’t even cover the cost of the eggs, the avocado, the bacon, the tomatoes, and the potato sticks from the Cobb salad, the small side salads that were 20 minutes late, the creamers that we never got, etc. I could go on and on. Disgusting af! I worked her same graveyard shift while 9 months pregnant and handled big rushes by myself and NEVER ever gave such lousy service like that. There was absolutely no excuse on why our service was so bad and so delayed when there was only us and another table. Read moreI eat everymeal at Denny's in Newburry Park, Ca. I spend over $200.00 a week at this Denny's. The only waitress/waiter worth anything is LISA. PERIOD. She greats you with a friendly greeting everytime you walk in. She knows exactly what I want all the time, and how I want my food prepared. Other waitress and waiters that I get, can't seem to remember how I want my food. Majority of them forget what I ordered and I have to keep reminding them. Eating here 3 times a day, 7 days a week, I would think that by now they would know. The only one that remembers is LISA. She always gets the order correct, is always checking on me to see how I'm doing during the course of the meal, and if everything is o.k. If I'm ordering a 3 piece meal, LISA knows when to place the next portion of the meal. I don't like having all my food come to the table at the same time and get cold. To really be honest, the only reason I come to the Denny's in Newburry Park, is LISA. She is the backbone of the restaurant.
