This WAS my favorite food stop. Every Saturday was the routine (and often another day or two during the week as well) since the day they opened in Thousand Oaks. Used to pick up food for friends coming over to house for Saturday movie night as well as for myself. Not anymore, though! A few months back they started adding so much pepper we couldn't taste the shack sauce flavor (the flavor is why we went there) over it. I have nothing against HOT seasoning (and it wasn't really very hot, just way, way, way too peppery tasting), but I want to be able to taste the other ingredients in the food as well. I complained about the issue and they said they'd look into it. Nothing changed. Even my friends stopped asking me to bring them food anymore--they couldn't taste anything past the peppers either. I emailed them and complained about it to management. They never even contacted me. No replay email. No "Well look into it". Nothing! I gave them another try after a month and a half in case the cook ruining their food had been replaced (I hoped it was a bad cook and not a new recipe from management) and the pepper was gone--but so was all the other flavor. It was so tasteless (and oily too) that both I and my brother couldn't finish it. I am so very saddened that my previously FAVORITE food place is now awful....
Read moreNot sure what to think after my first time experience at Snapper Jack's Taco Shack. This place was recommended highly by a former employee and friends and families who frequent this place. Sadly, I don't feel they delivered what I was expecting based on the Glowing Accolades everyone has made me believe. Ordered a Cancun Buritto and a Nachos with Shrimp. With 2 drinks $35 seemed an little steep for 2 entrees and 2 drinks, but whatever. Upon finally calling my number, I was disappointed to see that they actually made me a quesadilla, Not the nachos I had ordered. After another 5-10 minutes, the nachos were delivered to our outdoor table. The shrimp were delicious, however the ranchero sauce, which happened to be the 2nd ingredient listed, was non apparent. If anything 2 whole chips had the sauce on it. Anyway, due to the multiple mistakes that I why I have to give the low score to this restaurant. Will I try them again? Perhaps, but it make take a few...
Read moreSnapper Jacks was one of our favorite places to eat. I describe their food as the best Mexican Fast Food restaurant. There is no table service, you order and pick up yourself. The young people working here are always friendly. The 3 stars I am giving this place is due to the incredibly increasing prices. Also lately, there are many mistakes in what we ordered. For instance ordering steak taquitos and getting chicken. Now when we last went there, two chicken taco salads and one order of taquitos, plus 3 drinks was $46.00 with tax. That is way too expensive for this type of restaurant. There have been 3 price increases in the past 6 months. Also there was a diminished amount of guacamole and the chicken was shredded not chunks on the salad. We can eat at El Torito or Don Cuco for about the same amount of money and it is better food. We loved this place but we are through with it now and...
