We usually order take out. We are big sushi lovers and it is difficult to find good sushi in the midwest- let alone in a small town like Three Rivers Michigan. The sushi is ALWAYS freshly made, the ingredients are always fresh, and the care given to each roll is effortlessly noticed. They give you more than enough soy sauce, and the bento box is really nicely crafted. We haven't dined inside the restaurant, but when picking up our orders the atmosphere is pretty typical for the cuisine. They sell trinkets at the register which makes it fun and inviting. We like to sushi binge and order lost of rolls at one time. This last visit we ordered 5 or more different rolls and they came in separate containers which were all labeled. I have ordered the maki combo before, where the three different rolls were put into the same container, which made them stick together and caused them to fall apart when attempting to eat. That is my only complaint. I have also had their appetizers and those are very good as well. All in all, you can tell it is a family owned restaurant and that they really put their heart into their food. I really like the quality and freshness of their ingredients and food. You might find higher quality sushi at places over an hour away from Three Rivers, but if you want good food for a decent price and not from a grocery store, then please visit Tokyo. They have a great selection of dishes and sushi rolls to choose from! Also, I have noticed, the menu online does not seem to list all of their sushi options. It always best to visit the location and pick up a menu because I ordered from the online menu before, visited, grabbed their paper menu, and realized that I could have had even better food than what I thought! Lastly, their staff is always welcoming and accommodating, they have staff that are able to take your order in a precise way and help you understand items if you have questions. The restaurant looks and smells pretty good and the prices are pretty reasonable....
Read moreWe finally tried this place, we ordered dine in. Not giving 5 stars due to our dine in experience. Granted that it was the end of the day, but the tables were not the cleanest. But we were seated at a clean one. Server was with us promptly for drinks and then back again for our food order. After that we didn’t see her for a while. A table larger than ours was seated after us and received the first portion of their meal before us. We ordered chicken nuggets and fries for our 7 year old because she’s picky. Server came back and let us know she didn’t have nuggets. We said that’s okay she’ll try some of our friend rice. Then she came a second time and told us they didn’t have fries. We say okay. Finally she came with our tray of sushi’s. But we were missing our soups and fried rice. Finally my soup came. And then finally the fried rice came after we had finished the rest of the food. We just boxed it up to go. The positive about this experience is the food was GREAT. the sushi was fresh and nice large pieces. Nice presentation and full of flavors. Veggie fried rice and won ton soup were excellent and fresh. We will definitely order again but this time we will pick up and take home.
Update 12/2024 We ordered pick up online. Food was ready when said to be. Food was still hot when we made it home. The sushi was fresh. Soup hot. And vegetable fried rice was packed...
Read moreThe chicken and steak hibachi is my favorite. I actually love the lettuce and cucumber salad with the ginger-carrot sauce and the onion soup; both are delicious appetizers. The chicken and hibachi steak with fried rice and veggies is also delicious, and I like that it's a balanced and fairly healthy meal. The Thai tea is a favorite of mine as well. The staff is super friendly and attentive, especially the young girl with the ponytail; she's super sweet and made sure to double check ingredients for me when I mentioned an oyster allergy. The dining area itself could use some updating and probably a good deep clean, but it's very laid back and I don't think it's actually dirty, just old. Overall, this is one of my favorite...
