I come here every now and then but during Covid times came frequently as there was a lady who worked here and I had a wait time one day and I wasn’t worried about it but she had brought me free appetizers and I thought to myself you don’t get this kind of service anywhere else so I tipped her very well and continued to every time I came in. then one day I never seen her again and I still came but not nearly as often as I was sort of saddened to not see her again. I have gone a couple times this year and today I went in and ordered and overheard a customer mention a new thing on the menu. So as I waited I seen it written on paper so I asked the gentleman at the counter what it was and he seemed proud and showed me photos online and I was like wow that looks awesome and asked if I could order it and he said he couldn’t today but it’s coming. Anyways he said I can make you a sample and I was down and offered to pay and he insisted I didn’t pay. It was called something kbop. Mimi or mtmt kbop? Anyways he brought my food and was just waiting for the kbop and when he brought it it was a full platter. In shock I said I must pay you for this. I begged him to let me pay so I did and it reminded me of the lady who used to be there. So I brought her up and he said yeah she works lunch now and I said I used to come a lot cause of her and tipped her well like 20 bucks sometimes but didn’t explain why. Then I asked is that your wife? and he said yeah. I kinda quit going cause I hadn’t seen her but moral to the story what he did reminded me of her. Absolute pure generosity and care for their customers. I travel the world for work and eat all over the U.S. and outside the U.S. and I never never never get treated like that. I was so happy to hear she is still there and to see him being as thoughtful and kind as her. I suppose it runs in the family and in their blood! These people are amazing! The food is amazing and I loved the kbop! He said I was the first customer to recieve it❤️ and I’m truly honored and thrilled to learn what I learned today. I will support this business and family as long as they are around. BEST IN...
Read moreI used to have a favorite Teriyaki joint about 2 miles closer to me on Barbur Blvd. It closed down over a year ago and since then I've been searching for a new place. I LOVE chicken teriyaki and I know what good teriyaki tastes like as I've eaten at practically every japanese restaurant in the Portland/Metro area, not to mention all the restaurants in the other places I've lived.
The important thing is, I will now drive the extra few miles (there is another, closer place) to get my teriyaki at HOT because I went there last night and was blown away. I've driven by it a million times and for some reason never noticed. The chicken was lean and well cooked, generously sauced, and the rice was sticky, sweet, and not overcooked. the gyoza was hot, crispy outside, tender inside,,, in short, everything I was looking for. Even the cabbage salad was mild, sweet and crunchy, providing that perfect counterpoint to the chicken and rice.
This place deserves your business. They have certainly...
Read moreI’m from Hawaii, where I’ve enjoyed some of the best chicken katsu! I was excited to try this small teriyaki spot and it did not disappoint! The chicken katsu plate on Friday’s is only $10! Super delicious or as we like to say in Hawaii, “Ono”. 👍🏽 The chicken is cooked perfectly with a really good sweet and sour sauce that leaves you wanting more.
Aside from the food, the staff are genuinely friendly and welcoming, which adds to the whole experience. You can tell thatthey care about their customers and the quality of their food. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal, somewhere that is wallet friendly, and excellent service!
P.S. if you can’t already tell from the pic, even my dog is a huge fan of the...
