Yen's Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Tigard

Will never ever go back there!!!!! Service was horrible! The waiter was rude and had to chase him down if you needed anything. My friend and I ordered on seperate checks had to go find the waiter to ask for the soup that came with the meal. When he brought out the food he put it all on the side where my friend was sitting, in front of her. We both thought it was all hers. I waited for half an hour for mine to come out. Waiter never returned to our table in all that time. did not offer tea didn't refill water glasses or ask if we needed water. My friend got sick and vomited after taking two bites of her food. Chased down the waiter to ask for boxes for her food and asked that my order be boxed when it was ready. He brought the boxes and didn't see him again. Other people were commenting on the service we received and commenting on the fact I hadn't gotten mine (45 minutes after ordering). I went out to smoke while my friend waited for my order. She came outside shortly and said again she had had to chase the waiter down to ask about my order and he said he had brought it out. He had given her both orders and she hadn't realized it wasn't all hers as he placed the orders on her side of the table in front of he. She wasn't sitting directly across from me and the space in front of me was empty waiting for my food. So I got to pay for food I did;t get to eat. Jer order was wrong anyway, she ordered orange chicken and got coconut chicken. She didn't remember what all came with hers but knew there were several items on her order so assumed it was all hers. He put the plate that should have been mine directly in front of her and the other plate right beside of it on her side of the table. Worst service ever anywhere. Plus he never bothered to return to tell us that mine had been brought out at the same time, just left us hanging after I asked mine be boxed when it was ready....

We LOVE Yen's! Found them about five years ago when moved into the area and eat there (or take-out) at least a couple of times a month. They will omit MSG upon request also. Their Won Ton soup is outstanding and if I don't order the BBQ Pork, we have an upset house! Love the Garlic Chicken, their new Asparagus Combo and Broccoli with Hot Garlic Sauce. The Sweet and Sour Pork is awesome too - and like another reviewer said, love that it comes with the sauce on the side! The 3 Flavor Mongolian is also superb - very tasty and you taste all of the chicken, beef and shrimp flavors, with a kick. Vegetables are always cooked perfectly - a little crisp still, yet everything ordered in or out is always piping hot and definitely not overcooked or mushy. Oh, and as others have said - portions are HUGE and great for leftovers, which you will have! Also love the remodel they did a couple years ago - kept the same, but new booths and tables, with a fresh coat of paint. Oh, one last thing - love that ALL of the staff is Chinese and super efficient. :)

Our only wish is they would offer brown rice vs. white as an option, but it's not worth knocking off any stars!

Since I grew up eating Chinese all my childhood through young adulthood in LA, then this restaurant simply does not measure up to what I expect in a Chinese restaurant (quite honestly, very few restaurants in all of Oregon even come close, but fortunately there are a few). That said, my family here in Oregon loves this place and it's close to home and has a great lunch deal. I'm fine to eat here whenever they decide it's time to eat here, but I just wish that the food was more reminiscent of what I grew up with. Even so, whenever I eat here, I faithfully clean off my plate with not a noodle or grain of rice or morsel of food left to eat. In other words, it's not that bad!
