The staff at this store are wonderful! Beth is a kick in the butt and goofy while still providing excellent customer service. Steven is a sweet and quiet guy but very efficient and good at his job. Phil is a manager and is competent and from what I've seen of his interactions with his employees, he's firm but compassionate.
The store itself is clean and well ordered, unlike Goodwill. Yes, some of the prices are a bit high, but if you are diligent and shop the 1/2 price sales, 1/2 price tags, and $2 Thursdays (not to mention senior day and assorted holiday sales) you can make a killing. A friend of mine tends to see nothing but junk when we go in but after 30 minutes of shopping she'll come back to me from the clothing department and ask where I found all of the really cool stuff. I tell her, "In there with the junk."
We have both found expensive handbags for less than $20 that we have resold for near retail on Ebay. Same with collectables and antiques. The place is a crafter's dream on $2 Thursdays if the tag color matches any of the tags on wedding gowns or formal dresses. All it takes is being a smart shopper to buy the raw materials for money making crafts.
The isles are wide and two carts can pass each other easily. Have you ever tried to pass another shopper in an isle in a Goodwill? Yeah, that's a huge pain if it can be done at all.
The only bad thing I have to say about this Value Village is that the ladies room, in hot weather, reeks of ... well... you know... It's not because it's dirty, though. There is a problem with the plumbing in the building that causes the stench to come through a floor drain. This should be fixed by the owners of the property and can't be fixed by the store. The smell doesn't reach the store proper so you're good to go as long as you don't have to pee. Oh, and the handicapped stall in the ladies room is too small to take a power wheel chair. This sucks for...
Read moreI just left and had the worst experience with a cashier named "Tatum" who rolled her eyes 20 ish times and put her head back serveral times and refused to give her name. .... honestly i have never had anyone ever react with such immaturity. Then the Manager Elizabeth who did act professionally and mostly curtious, but refused to assist in any way except say i could exchange ( i live about an hour away, do not easy). I came up said yeah most of the stuff i got was half price thinking it was blue tag which I said quite loudly. I paid and then looked at the receipt and I said why aren't my discounts showing up? She said it was because it was green tags...and I mentioned why didn't you tell me when I gave you most things blue and how happy I was about it? She rolled her eyes continuously which shocked me quite a lot. It was an honest mistake and I asked if they could just refund two girls pants i didn't want to pay $10 each for used clothing for a gift card....I was just expecting to pay $45 plus or less..... honestly I am most upset I wasn't shown decency or respect as a person. I am an avid thrifter and have been here many times and always had a pleasant experience. She said she was hearing impaired...but no need to act the way She did. I told her I was disappointed about her rolling her eyes at me lots and she just said ok and refused to tell me her name so I could write this. If she could have heard me things would have been different...I have nothing against hearing impaired and have a friend who is deft but Elizabeth was unwilling to help at all. No kindness shown. I am very upset and wouldn't recommend Tatum to be in customer service. Accidents happen....some caring and friendliness...
Read moreAfter being a loyal customer and donating 10’s of thousands of dollars worth of clothing and furniture over the last 20 years, I absolutely have to say how disappointed I was yesterday to have my wallet stolen from me in the store yesterday and furthermore how appalled I am at the way I was treated by two of the staff members including, the manager Kate who ignored me, argued with me and was incapable of being proactive and helping me after the purse went missing. My ID, over 10 credit cards, over 1000. Cash for rent that I had just pulled, RX medication all gone. I was ignored, told that she was going to check the safe and then she literally got into an argument with me about my attitude instead of helping me, she walked away and acted like I had no reason to be upset. I had my 5 month old baby and my 8 year old son with me. Absolutely NO EMPATHY and she did NOTHING TO TRY TO HELP RECOVER MY PURSE. I Will NEVER donate another cent and want to clarify that as a business owner, the customer services and attitude of not only her but the black woman with the mask who was EXTREMELY rude to me both in the men’s jacket section and almost pushed me over in the isle while carrying my baby and again at the Jewelry counter before my wallet was taken was absolutely uncalled for and the worst customer care I have ever encountered. Based upon this experience, I will absolutely be letting everyone I know to stop supporting the store. Thanks for the nightmare yesterday. I will never forget the way I was treated. EVER. Since the police are involved, let me be clear when I say that I will be pressing charges to the full...
