I placed this order 30 minutes before pickup. When I arrived my 3 sandwiches hadn't even been started yet and the guy at the front immediately announced a female coworker (who remained standing in the kitchen to care for her finger the entire transaction until the end when she thought it was a good idea to go sit at a guest table in the restaurant to hold paper towel around her bloody finger) I asked how long it would be and he told me 6 minutes but made sure to add they had a lot of catering to do also. Unprofessional and not my problem, bud. Management should be scheduling appropriately so you can take care of catering jobs as well as regular pick ups and walk in guests. The customer doesn't need to know about your work load, especially in relation to the service they are receiving. I proceeded to wait an additional 15 minutes before letting them know I would have to leave. Not that 45 minutes for 3 deli sandwiches isn't ridiculous already. He offered to refund me but said they were making my last sandwich then so I chose to wait. No apology, no discount, just attitude and it was totally unprofessional. Like I bothered him or ruined his day with my order. The sandwiches were thrown together, sloppy, and the Surfin' Bird was so stuffed with cream cheese just on one side, it was inedible. So was the Spicolli, the bread was utterly waterlogged and the ranch was dripping from the wrapper before it was even opened. A $50 order and it was a complete waste of money. I will never go here again and encourage anyone who considers it to save your money and go to a Subway or Jersey Mikes, much faster, cheaper, and far superior...
Read moreI haven't gone to every deli/sub-sandwich shop in the Tualatin/Tigard area, but for me this is probably the best overall. That is, from a quality-quantity for the price. And to be honest the last time I went here was when they had a fundraising event for Metzger Elementary School. As for the quantity-quality thing, they don't overfill on the veggies and short on the meat or vice versa and they definitely don't skimp. I think it's about the right volume of ingredients for a sandwich. And, most importantly, the quality is great! Granted, if I'm hungry for a sandwich and want it now, I'd probably go someplace that'll serve my impatient-self a bit faster. However, if you've got the time and believe quality takes-time, then this is probably your spot for the Tigard central area. Speaking of speed of service, I think the only downside to this, is that it can be quite slow in producing said sandwich for you. We're talking 30 minutes sometimes and you've got 4-5 people back there working. Compare that to 5-10 minutes at Jimmy Johns when slammed. On the upside, they have a decent selection of beers on tap while you wait; they have at least a couple I really like (Crux and Rogue). Saying that, there may be several sandwich joints out there that serve a decent variety of beers on tap too, but how many also serve the likes of Macallan, Jameson, Hennessy, Woodford and Pendleton? Literally covering all whiskey's from Canada to the South to Scotland. Only thing probably missing is the Japanese variety. Either way those are available...while you wait...

Cruising through Tigard, my friend and I couldn’t help but notice the totally rad Beach Hut Deli – that beachy decor just called to us like a wave begging to be surfed! We finally decided to dive in, even though we had no clue how to order at first. No worries though – one of the friendly crew members came over and gave us the lowdown with that classic chill island vibe.
After grabbing some drinks, we snagged the coolest little surfboard table – seriously, it was giving total beach shack energy. The music was jamming, the vibe was on point, and everyone there seemed to be soaking up the good times.
Now, let’s talk about the main event – the sandwiches. Holy guacamole, these things were stacked! The bread was soft and fresh – like it had just washed ashore on a tropical island. The sandwiches were absolutely loaded with meat, cheese, and all the fixings – you name it, it was in there. We could barely tackle a quarter of our sandwiches before we had to throw in the towel (or napkin). And the nachos? Mahalo for that cheesy goodness!
Best part? Taking that epic sandwich home and getting to ride the flavor wave all over again the next day. Totally worth the stop – I’m already planning my next visit to order the exact same thing.
