Tigard Taphouse has always been our neighborhood favorite. The beer selection is really good. Mike the owner is a fantastic guy to talk to and get to know. The inside of the taphouse has a warm home like vibe which is ideal if you are catching up with friends or want a nice place to relax at. Since COVID hit the inside has more or less been reduced to a few seats (when people could even go inside) what is really impressive is the steps Mike has taken to make the best of the taphouse outside! There are now several different covered structures that you can choose from outside along with fire pits and propane heaters. There is ample room in the back to accommodate many different groups while still maintaining distance. I have not seen another establishment adapt so well to the current situation. We especially really like the new "huts" in the back which can hold 4 people (see picture - taken from the outdoor bar you order from). We are all excited for things one day to go back to normal but it's clear that Mike and the Tigard Taphouse are doing everything they can to make the best of the situation and the additions are still very cool even if there were no restrictions.

Great selection of beers, although I would have liked to see a few more non-IPA options. We tried the hummus plate, the Bratwurst, and the soft pretzel with magic cheese. Everything was delicious! We were able to bike here and park our bikes out front. Plenty of tables and space to spread out. Didn't get to use the fire, so that would be nice next time. The little covered table areas are nice, but I would suggest turning the tables to be perpendicular to the coverings so that half of your group doesn't have their backs to everything. It would be nice to be able to look around and not just face a wood wall. There were lots of dogs (on leashes) and saw one small child. Might be a little too cramped for young children who would want to explore. Overall neat place and we will be back to try more things!

TWO STAR TAP HOUSE The beer/cider is the only reason to come here. QUESTIONABLE FOOD QUALITY Brisket was really the only thing ordered that checks out, although it was a tad tough. The magic cheese was edible, but nothing special. Bun was stale for the bratwurst and the chips served with the queso were stale. MENU MOSTLY CROSSED OFF Very few options for food here and what we did get wasn’t worth paying for. A solid half of the options were 86’d and we came here expecting to eat several of them based on what’s normally available. DIRTY/UNSANITARY Upstairs bathroom had soap that was watered down and didn’t lather. We got there at opening and the tables hadn’t been wiped from the night before. Inside was also filthy with bits on carpets and sticky floors.

I've been torn about posting this review but I feel like it should be said. I love to support small businesses and I love a good outdoor area, and this place checked both boxes. It is a great tap house with a good selection of beer and a great outdoor patio. I've been a couple times with coworkers and can't complain. This review however, has to do with the demeanor of the staff towards children. They are disrespectful, rude, and dismissive of children. I was visiting with a friend of mine and we both had our 4 year old sons with us. They were doing normal four year old boy things. Playing in the rocks, running around the table, and playing on the tires that are around the trees. We were approached twice by staff telling us to get our children under control saying things like "unruly children are a liability to our customers" and "come on! stop playing in the rocks guys". I understand unruly children, and have seen my children act out before but this was not the case. It is a laid back outdoor area but it is not family friendly. I feel like if they do not want kids they should just make it 21+. This not a family friendly establishment. We ended up putting our boys in front of a screen so they wouldn't continue to get yelled at by the staff, which defeated the entire purpose of coming out to enjoy the patio and sun. We are regular Tigard patrons that will not be back, nor will we ever recommend this place to our friends, which is a shame because it has the potential to be a great place.

Advice: Invest in a corner with toys and games for children. Then the kids wouldn't disrupt your idea of a perfect utopian kid-free...

Unfortunate experience we just had. We came here often as we live nearby and had just ordered from Baileys Burger (right down the street) to support our local businesses. Me and my husband came here, as we’ve done in previous times, and brought our order from Baileys in to eat outside on the patio. In previous times we’ve known that they allow outside food in so we felt comfortable doing so.

As we had taken a drink of our beer, and we’re taking a bite of our burger, a waitress abruptly came up to us to say “you can’t have outside food in here due to a new policy” and walked away.

  1. How are the patrons supposed to know there’s a new policy?
  2. As we got our beers we clearly had outside food and none of this was mentioned
  3. Why not at least give the courtesy to finish our food this one time since we couldn’t have possibly known that there was a recent change in the policy without any notice or indication otherwise.

We found it extremely rude and embarrassing and were upset so decided to close out our tab. My husband went to do so and the man at the counter, very nice asked what happened but didn’t apologize or say anything else.

It’s unfortunate that this happened and leaves a sour taste on our mouths as we...
