The purpose of this review is to catch the attention of patrons & the owners of Tigardville Station. I've no interest in directly addressing the bartender since I am sure he knows he has not met expectations. I've been there before, many times, enjoyed live music and dancing. Today, for the first time, I went to happy hour. The bar tender was male, dirty blonde hair, receding hairline. He was descriptive about the state of menu revisions and that he was the only bartender on at the moment, so he would not leave the bar to serve me. Fair, I said. I paid in advance, left him a $2 tip knowing he would not serve/bus, I would. He used his unclean hands on my food. Twice! I ordered Cajun tots and went to deliver water to my table. When I returned, I saw him use his bare hand to scoop lettuce from a lettuce stash onto a plate. My first thought: This is not for me, I didn't order lettuce. Second thought: He must have just washed or disinfected his hands, why else would he... He then went to the cash register, typed something, pulled a receipt, smushed it and all its fresh ink, tossed it to the trash, and returned to add tots to the lettuce plate. Again, he used his bare hands. I made a decision to eat -- not sure why. I made a decision to not rescind the tip and teach him about the law or cleanliness. I am now thinking this was the wrong choice. He could have gone to the bathroom -- something I would not accept -- and not washed his...
Read moreI'm absolutely baffled by all the people saying this place has great food. They must have been plastered by the time their food arrived. I went during happy hour around 5 pm or so. Everything I ordered was microwaved. Nothing fresh at all. $4 for cheesy fries, 4$ for chicken skewers on happy hour. The bartender did all the cooking as well as bartending. That should give you an indication. Props to the staff for multitasking, but this is not the way things should be done. I have no complaints about the service. The staff were friendly. If you only care about drinking, this place is fine for that.
The cheesy fries were cooked in an oven. I'm pretty sure they were frozen precut fries, the kind you buy at Winco for 1 or 2 bucks. They were then topped with prepackaged preshredded cheese and microwaved. You don't have to be a chef to know that that's a huge no-no and will never ever be cooked properly. 4$ for that during happy hour. Are you kidding me? You can get fresh fries for that price at almost any other bar in the area.
I suspect the chicken skewers were frozen too. Definitely reheated in the oven or microwave with no seasoning except for the Kikkoman teriyaki sauce dabbed on top of each piece after being cooked. If you've ever had this particular Kikkoman teriyaki sauce you know it's way too salty to be used as a finishing sauce or by itself, it has to be cooked...
Read moreThis place has really upped their ante in the past year especially! I still show up to dance to the bands that have stood the test of time there, even though I no longer live in Tigard, and every now and then, I'll catch a new band, or the Jam Night on Thursdays... There's a lot going on there, especially in the Summer!! Within the past year alone, I've watched this place continue to grow into Tigard's Hidden Gem, and I am not sad! The service is wonderful, servers on weekends was a MUST HAVE, and they understood the assignment! The quality and presentation of the food has my full attention these days, and it looks and tastes marvelous! I'm impressed with how diligent the work has been in recovering in the years since Covid. It can't be easy to take ownership of a bar in that atmosphere, and when I made my last review, I was not thinking about that part of the equation, and needed to amend my statement. This place remains My Cheers, even though I'm so far away from you. Tigardville Station is Tigard's Hidden Gem, and I look forward to seeing how we both evolve in the coming...
