My boyfriend and I enjoyed our visit on a Monday mid-afternoon. We were driving home from a night at the coast and needed a nice sit-down lunch. The Rendezvous was the first place we saw from the road and there was free parking right in front. Our server / bartender was super nice and friendly! We liked the cozy, family atmosphere and the food was much, much better than we were expecting.
Like most bars there are several video lottery machines, but they are not hidden behind a curtain of shame, but simply tucked into a corner of the barroom. A journey to the restroom (all the way back and to the left) reveals a dining room in the back, where minors are allowed to sit and eat with parents at family style tables. The restrooms are clean and stocked. Adding to the cozy feeling, the people here know each other and are actually having conversations.
The menu here is extensive and has all your favorite American comfort foods. I almost went for the fried oysters but then we decided to try the flat breads, which I am glad we did. They are a lot like a hearty open-faced sandwich on a delightful, crunchy, cracker-like crust. The BBQ one is a sweet and savory treat. The sweet BBQ sauce and tangy green onions tasted great together. Our onion rings were perfectly cooked and delicious, with that nice smooth batter that doesn't cut up your mouth.
Serendipity brought us in, and good service, good atmosphere, and good food are going to bring us back the next time we roll through! Thanks for a nice...
Read moreThis place has a special place in my heart. After a long day of riding, my wife and I were looking for a quick bite to eat, we stumbled on to the rendezvous and went in. We walked into an establishment that was obviously having restoration work done. There were only 4 things on the menu, and we almost left for another place. We were so glad we didn't. We inquired about what was going on and were told about the fire upstairs and all the damage from the water that fire fighters put it out with, so we decided to support them a bit and stay for dinner and a few beers. They had no kitchen to speak of and they had made pulled pork on the home smoker and used that to make a few menu items. The meals were great !! We had a few more drinks and got to talking with Joe and Donna, the owners, and next thing they were sending us a round on the house and thanking us profusely, for staying. Needless to say, we gladly payed for that round anyway. Fast forward 3 years, im riding the Oregon coast again and just had to stop in and see how things were, and I was so happy to see the place all fixed up and a full menu . We had the best wings ever and had some laughs with Joe and Donna again. If you want a down to earth place, with down to earth people, and great food, look no farther the the rendezvous....love this place with all my heart !!!! Thanks...

But now I've visited again and there's more....
During my original visit I enjoyed myself thoroughly for several reasons: One, the owners and the employees are people who understand that a bar/restaurant is a hospitality business. (A fact lost on so, so many others.) And two, a person feels warmly welcome, and genuinely appreciated, while visiting The Rendezvous.
Now it's two weeks later and I'm back, and I feel compelled to amend my original post with my latest experience.
Everyone whom works at The Rendezvous takes genuine pride in their work, and it shows, whether it be making special request cocktails (did someone say whiskey sour muddled with fresh summer peaches) -- for which I owe a special thanks to Bartender Bob -- or the from-the-heart food (yes, I'm thinking of you fish'n chips, in all your amazing panko-crisped crunchy glory, and yes you too, decadently-rich clam chowder.)
When it comes judging their food, for me the Rendezvous passes the ultimate litmus test for how much a restaurant cares about its food... their vegetable side-dishes are thoughtfully prepared -- and absolutely delicious.
Visit because you're thirsty. Visit because you're hungry. Visit because you want to surround yourself with friendly people. But......
