Today we say GOODBYE to what used to be our âFAVORITEâ Breakfast place! This morning We arrived at 9:38 was seated rite away.. 10 minutes went by and a waitress finally came and took our drink order.. Then after a few minutes we put In our FIRST food order. I ordered the portobello mushroom Benedict eggs poached HARD. FiancĂ© ordered The hungries breakfast it comes with two eggs he added a âthirdâ and ordered extra crispy Johnâs. Food came out.. My eggs were RUNNY far from poached HARD.. He received 2 eggs not 3 his potatoes looked like mashed potatoes instead of Johnâs potato cooked extra crispy. So our waitress comes over we explain this issue she comes back with the âownerâ she says she is going to go in the kitchen and get everything squared away.. At this point my fiancĂ© says he will just do the Same meal as mine only difference is he will take his eggs poached soft instead of hard. The âownerâ says she is going to the kitchen and going to talk to the kitchen and make sure it comes out correctly⊠So we wait another 20 minutes. The waitress along with table busters are apologizing at this point while we are waiting asking if we need anything because we have been there so long and everything is going wrong. Our food comes out a 2nd time My eggs weâre not perfect but I was just going to roll with the punches and not be picky until I looked over at my fiancĂ©s plate and realize heâs got a long dark hair mixed in the sauce before he even touched his plate.. At this point Itâs been a hour and we are really trying to give them the benefit of the doubt because things do happen.. So after the waitress takes the plate with the hair on it to the âownerâ, we sit for 10 minutes waiting to see what she says.. The âownerâ walks up and says I been busy thereâs a lot going on proceeds to look at me and asks me did I even try my foodâŠ.? My fiancĂ© explains the hair in the food situation and that my eggs are wrong again and even if my food was ok we shouldnât have to eat at different times because of their mistakes. So she Says ok what can I do to make this situation better for you.. We said we know things happen and we will order our food again, because we normally do not have problems and have been loyal customers since the original location, so she went to the kitchen.. and after another 20/25 minutes we get our food for the 3rd time. Not only are my eggs wrong AGAIN, My fiancĂ© has ANOTHER hair in his food this time it is a short black hair. We ask for the owner once again she comes to the table with the nastiest attitude and my fiancĂ© explains there is yet another hair in a ânewâ plate after we have sat here over a hr and a half. She replies we arenât going to be able to serve you todayâŠ.? Iâm absolutely flabbergasted this is really how you handle your establishment. You keep making mistakes and we are trying to work with you and tell you we understand things happen and all you can say after almost 2 hours of a extra terrible experience is that âwe canât serve Youâ I managed in food for almost 10 years so I totally get things happen but you should be ashamed of yourself. After the second time you should have taken control went to the kitchen and made it your self to make sure it didnât happen again but instead you as the âownerâ let the same thing happen a THIRD time and want to bring your nasty attitude back to the table and say you canât serve us? Absolutely mind blowing. You should be ashamed to tell anyone you are the owner of any establishment the way you handled things this morning. I highly recommend you seek help with some Customer service classes because you are definitely lacking serious skills. McDonaldâs has better service than what we received this morning. Very sad and disappointing. We will...
Read moreVisiting Toledo for the first time and whenever I travel I try and look for locally owned places to try. On my first couple days here I tried Monroe Street Diner and had a very nice experience but wanted to try something new my last morning here. Based on reviews I thought this was a good option for breakfast but sadly it was not. From the time I and the person I was with walked in the experience was odd. The hostess took our name and went to sit another couple but didn't return for about 5 min. This would have been fine if it was just us up front but in that time a line of about 6 people lined up waiting to pay. Eventually a waitress showed up "said sorry he keeps disappearing, not sure where" and checked them out. The hostess then reappeared and sat us. After a few minutes a waitress showed up and very abruptly said "can I take your drink order?" She was with another waitress, who I believe was training her, neither of which introduced themselves or even said hello. I understand new jobs can be stressful but a simple "hello" before taking any order goes a long way to show kindness and help customers have a welcoming experience. After taking the drink and food orders they left. The food arrived and the waitress who was training was kind enough to fix a mistake. However, other than my eggs and toast the food was inedible. My potatoes were swimming in a pool of grease and my turkey bacon tasted sour. The person I was with ordered an omelette they described as "just fine, nothing to hurry back for." We didn't have time to even attempt a replacement as I'm on a timed schedule and had to get on the road. I had high hopes for this place but they were not met and therefore I will not be returning on future visits. The one positive I will say was the coffee, neither burnt nor watered down (which can sometimes be the case) so that was...
Read moreThis used to be our favorite place to go. But after the way we were treated last weekend, I unfortunately will have to walk away from this establishment.
What was even more upsetting than the initial interaction, was the response they wrote me on my Facebook page after I tagged them in a post about how disappointed I was. The response itself was incredibly in compassionate and arrogant.
We had reservations for 1 PM on Sunday for their private room. We had just attended a funeral for the most important person in our family who loved and cherished uncle Johnâs pancake House so we made sure to make reservations so that our family could grieve and be together.
When we arrived, we were told that the room was taken by another party that they had booked at the same time. We spoke to management about how we had this booked and there was no sympathy whatsoever.
We then proceeded to wait almost 45 minutes to be seated. At one point, they offered us the patio (it was windy , chilly, and had a chance of rain.) or we wouldâve had to split up across the restaurant.
In the end, they grouped tables in the middle of the restaurant so that we could all sit together. We never got the room we reserved.
When I post it on Facebook about how frustrated it was, the response I received was incredible. And then they blocked me for calling them out. I have posted those screenshots here.
And to top it off, My husband had the burger and got really sick 20 minutes later with stomach pain and vomiting all day until the next morning.
Everything about our experience was disheartening. I worked in food service for YEARS and am a really patient person when it comes to restaurants. but this is unacceptable. I, myself will...
