Now I am giving this 2 stars with room to improve. I will go back in a few weeks and give it another try. I went in on a rainy monday around 1pm. There was only one other person in the place.
I walked up to the kiosk and proceeded to cycle through the menu and pick out my order. I got a custom burrito with steak, white rice, black beans, corn salsa, sourcream, sriracha sauce and cheese. I also got a solo baja fish taco from their food truck menu.
Service was very friendly and took about 10 minutes for my order to come out.
I took my food out to my car and decided to have my taco first. Took only a few bites to finish and was satisfied but not thrilled. For me it was just very lacking in a punch of flavor. When you get a taco your expecting some explosive flavors packed into a little package. The fish itself looked as tho it was a fish stick style product. Crispy yes but just meh in flavor. The whole thing could have used a hit of salt. Sauce was there but again just lacking in punch. Red cabbage I think is simply there to make it look pretty. Toss it with some lime juice or something to bring out the flavor.
For $5 for a taco I'm expecting to be taken on the express train to flavor town instead I was on the express train that bypassed it on it's way to under-seasonedville. The chips that came with the taco had the salt I was expecting in the taco, however there were less then a handful and the salsa that came with them was also bland and watery and tasted just like blended tomato.
Next I had my custom burrito. I ordered steak with white rice, black beans, corn salsa, sour cream, sriracha sauce, and cheese. It was nice size burrito, but that's only because 3/4 of it was white rice. Again it was just kinda bland in flavor. Steak was in there somewhere. I only know for sure because I got a few chewy pieces of tendon mixed in that I had to gnaw my way through.
Now I don't know if they forgot the sriracha or if it was just so diluted in the sauce they make but there was none of that customary heat that comes from it to be found anywhere in my burrito. Again the corn salsa was there but it simply seemed flavor wise all they did was take some frozen corn toss it with some diced onion and called it a day.
Now overall the location is very nice. Customer service was very friendly. Kiosk order was simple straight forward and easy to use. They do have all the makings to be a great addition to the Tom's River dining scene. I do think they need to focus a little better on their flavors. I know that this is their 5th location. But sometimes bigger isn't always better if you lose focus on what matters. I would say a little back to basics focus on flavors would...
Read moreI brought my 12yo here. Each of us being on the Autism Spectrum, we were SO excited that there's minimal human interaction lol They have 2 wide tablets where you can see pictures and places your order. There are menu screens over head as well. A young man came out to greet us and to let us know that if we have any questions or concerns that he's just right on the other side of the wall. Freakin Perfect.
I obsessed over the wicked resin flooring. So cool!! Ok the food. We each got a trio of different tacos as well as the jalapeno poppers. I am SOOOOOO selective when it comes to tacos. I love both authentic Mexican style as well as crunchy American style. I found Tacoholics to be a fusion. Me and my kid enjoyed our food. We also enjoyed not having to do awkward small talk with a server.
We will most...
Read moreI wish was in a better position to rate the food better. We ordered delivery on NYE directly from the website. Turns out they use DoorDash even though you order through their site.
$80 worth of food for five people (including 3 kids) was so cold when it got to us that we couldn’t eat most of it. The DoorDasher got lost which made the food even more late. You can’t microwave a dish with lettuce, tomato and sour cream without completely ruining it.
We specifically avoid DoorDash for these reasons so we were so disappointed that they use them on the backend for delivery without letting you...
