Turning Point Toms River Ocean County Mall — Restaurant in Toms River

Mixed emotions regarding this place. I been there a few times. Never had an issue ( myself) until today.

First time I went there, I was there with. My girlfriend catching up on things, we were there for a few hours( 2). The girls were getting antsy as it was getting time to close. The waitresses started sweeping the floor. A customer asked her if she could wait to sweep until after she was done eating that dust was flying up. The waitress gave her a dirty look and swept on the other side of the tables. Totally disregarded the customer, instead of stop sweeping, she went over to her coworkers and started talking about the poor old lady. Terrible! Totally terrible.

Today, I got there around 10:30, there was a 20-25. Minute wait but yet many tables empty. I jumped at the front bar after two customers left. Sat there for 25 minutes with dirty dishes in front of us. Several times we were looked at and ignored before they noticed we weren’t the two gentlemen that just left. After the two girls were chit chatting and texting on their phone, the girl finally noticed after I said something to my girlfriend. She immediately out her phone fish. Took a dirty rag, wiped the counter as she pushed all the crumbs on my lap. Put two paper placemats on the counter on top of the wet counter along with wet placemats. After receiving crumbs on our laps and wet placemats, we were finally asked if there was anything we wanted. I ordered coffee and lemonade. Sat there for a very long time with no coffee and lemonade before we walked out. Totally disregarding their customers! Worst service I’ve ever experienced. I will never return to that...

Todays visit was far below our expectations and all previous experiences. Even though it was early in the morning, the service was extremely slow for everything that took place. This would be understandable if it was crowded. Secondly, our avocado toast meal was served where the avocado was clearly not fresh anymore. This was easily seen as it was brown but the kitchen and server delivered it. It took over 10 minutes for the server to address this in which I had to get up and tell her because she did not check in with us after the meals were served. As I told her it wasn't fresh instead of an apology it was sort of a defensive approach saying it didn't look bad to me. Not the response we were looking for. We understand avocados can turn fast and this is the 2nd time it's been served to us this way. We requested another try of the meal and the 2nd one was fresh. When this happened once before the meal was free. No gestures to make this up this time despite us waiting for over 20 minutes for a fresh meal. The servers here are friendly and efficient. Melissa and Stephanie are great. Our server today was very abrupt and not the friendly type we were used to. Lastly, I signed up for the Turning Point app. We were told there's a free breakfast within 30 days of your birthday. Even though mine was within 30 days they would not honor it today and the manager didn't think about coming over to see if there was a problem with the app. So overall, very disappointing...

My four classmates and myself walked in today a little after 10am. This isn’t our first time and we’ve had good experiences. Today we came in and requested the high top table which is where we usually sit for fast service on a lunch break. Every server walked passed us and stared in our direction and not one of them greeted us nor offered to help. We watched the server walk into the area near the kitchen and complete a headcount. She proceeded to walk past us three more times without a word. She went to a newly sat table behind us instead. The next server that walked passed staring was stopped by myself to ask if anyone was going to come and help us. It’s 10:30am at this point so we’re well over 10mins of just waiting. Her response to my question was “your server will help you”. At this point the server who’d been walking pass us had finally acknowledged us. We sat til 10:42 with nothing and at that point we had no time to wait any longer as our break was coming to an end. We just got up and left. These servers that were walking and staring were not busy. A drink order would’ve sufficed. An ounce of teamnwork of maybe taking our order and giving it to the server would’ve been a little better. We won’t be back. We felt terrible sitting in the middle of the restaurant...
