A lovely little Sushi House in Tooele. I have been to this restaurant several times, by myself as well as in groups. I have found the service to be prompt and cheerful. I am also picky eater, so sometimes I need to make adjustments to the roles. In these cases I have found that all of my requests have been met flawlessly. I find the sushi to be great and price just right with the 50% off deals. A good selection of rolls, nigeria, and sashimi, are offered on the 50% off menu daily; excluding holidays, and for dine-in only. For take out orders full price is required per role. Additional menu items, for people who do not enjoy sushi, are also available on the full menu. Also they have a good selection of alcoholic beverages, including delicious sake options. The atmosphere is enjoyable and the lighting good, though sometimes tables can get a little snug. If you enjoy sushi and are in the area it's a fun treat to stop at Osaka.

Was pleasantly surprised by this place, especially since it's so close to home. Bigger than we thought it'd be, but it may not be a good fit for large groups of 6+. To be fair, we did go on a Saturday night, though, and it was packed. Staff were very friendly and though we did have to wait a few minutes to be seated, it wasn't excessive. To start we got some gyoza which seemed very fresh, crispy, and tasty. We got a few rolls but our two favorites were the Black Tiger and the Osaka--the former being my number-one choice. The others were decent, though not as good. Price was reasonable, given that if you've had sushi, you know how expensive it can be. Half as expensive as the place in West Valley we typically go to. Is it the best sushi I've ever had? No, but considering the cost and the five minute drive to get there, it's both delicious and an economical way to get your sushi fix. Pleasantly surprised!

I travel the county for work and eat sushi all over, sad to say the most I’ve been disappointed in a sushi restaurant is where I live. (I prefer deep fried roll) ordered 5 different rolls, Vegas, new Vegas, Mexican crunch, tempura, and I don’t remember the 5th roll. Every roll came out 90% or more rice. To the point you couldn’t tell the rolls apart, they all just tasted of rice and tempera. Couldn’t taste spicy tuna, salmon, cream cheese or avocado. Didn’t get any service until our meal was over. I brought the sushi quality up cause the photos of their sushi on the wall look nothing like this, and was told that’s cause they just make those look good for photos, what do I expect them to do about it. I paid for my meal, No tip, and will not be returning.

I will start off with the good. The food is great. The servers are great, but seem to get overwhelmed. Now for the reality. I used to go there 3 out of 4 Fridays a month. I would stop on the way home after a long day of work, just wanting food and to sit in my own chair and watch tv and drink my own beer. About 18 or 24 months ago, they made the craziest business decision EVER. I still dont understand it and the explanation I was given was hideous, but was only a relay through one of the ladies that work there directly from the owner. I was on my way home on a Friday night after a long day at work. I tried to be proactive and call in my order during my drive from SLC to Tooele. I ordered and she told me my total. It was double of normal. I asked her why, and she explained that the 50% was now only on sit down dining folks. WHAT? I asked why and she told me that because the owner said that when people take out, the waitress tips go down. WHAT? NO KIDDING!!! Me, I usually ordered $12-$18 in food for take out and ALWAYS tipped $5-$10, even on take out. They called me by name before I could even tell them. Awesome service. Needless to say, I stopped going. Not just on Fridays, but I NEVER go now. Not because of the price, but because of the most RIDICULOUS policy on business I have EVER heard of! Let me get this right. I tip 40-70%, and that is not enough? (on take out) 2.IF I sit at a table, take up space for FOUR people, dirty a glass, dirty up plates, take the waitress' time and waste my time, it costs me less money? Wouldn't you want your waitresses to have time to take care of people that are on dates, with their families and expect good service? From the other reviews, this seems to be a problem. MAYBE, just maybe you could think something all the way through before you make a rash decision. Not all of us want to sit around other people and listen to their poor me lives and how Becky dropped her boyfriend and is now dating his sister. Some of us just want to sit in PEACE AND QUIET of our own homes.

Just think about it. Your store is less dirty. Your staff can provide better attention to the customers wanting to be there and EXPECT good service. Your dish washer has less work to do. blah blah blah

Now, to tonight. My son and a friend of his went up there to dine in. I called him and asked him to get me 2 rolls and bring them home. They should be 50% because he is dining in.......right? NOPE. They told him they could not honor 50% off because he was taking out. I told him to get a to-go box for them, and they said nope.SERIOUSLY? They just followed your rules, yet you change them AGAIN. When he got home, he told me about it. I had been patiently waiting and not eating so that I could enjoy my much anticipated meal from Osaka, which would have been the first time in 18 month approximately. No sushi was brought home. So after being at work since 0500 and not getting lunch and then waiting for dinner, I still didnt get my sushi. Ridiculous! I called up there to ask why and what happened. She told me that he probably didnt use the right verbiage. He asked for 2 rolls to be put into a to-go box so that they could take them with. She said NO 50%. This is when the lady on the phone told me "that is a little tricky. He needed to ask for them to be brought to the table and THEN ask for a to-go box. AGAIN.............how STUPID is this business decision? now you are telling me that you WANT to cause your waitresses to do more work? You are telling me that you WANT more dirty dishes? WHAT IN THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THE OWNER OF THIS PLACE. Even if they change their policy. I will NEVER set foot in this place again. I am truly saddened that it has come to this. My guess is that this owner has lost touch with reality and will not even read this. But, I feel better knowing I dont have to wonder if I will ever go to Osaka Sushi Tooele Utah again. Now, Mr Owner, you are really taking tip money out of the hands of these UNDERPAID ...

If you enjoy being disrespected, yelled at by the waiter/hostess, or treated badly then this may be the place for you to spend your hard earned money. Not for me! I have had subpar service here before and inattentive staff but this time was by far the worst. I’ve just returned given it is the only decent sushi spot in town.

I had a pickup order. The waitress was looking down at her computer while I waited by the “wait here to be seated” sign. I saw my pickup order on the counter next to her so I thought it would be okay to walk up quickly and ask her if I could just grab it since she didn’t seem to notice me (I already paid for it). Instead of speaking to me like a kind human being she yelled loudly for me to get back to the sign. I said “I’m sorry, I am just here for a pickup order”. She proceeded to yell that there is a sign there for a reason. I then replied “I thought walking up to you would be better than yelling across the restaurant to inform you I had a pick up order”. She continued to yell at me to read the sign. Then she continued to shout across the restaurant to ask what my name was. As if this is better for the current seated customers than just allowing me to come up to you at the cash register. I just do not understand how anyone can speak to another person with such unprofessionalism or disrespect. Maybe I should have waited another moment at the sign but in what world is it okay to speak to anyone like that? By yelling at your customers who choose to support your small business versus going elsewhere ? We are all hurting in this economy and you’d think you’d want to keep your customers. If I was in the wrong there is still a kind way you can speak to people. I don’t think Osaka management has ever truly cared to uphold a proper standard of...

(Edit) - after reading the rest of the low reviews, do yourself a favor and don't trust all of the good reviews this restaurant has.

Not an attempt to leave a disrespectful review, just an honest and detailed review due to feeling like I wasted $50.

Wife and I tried Osaka for the first time since moving to tooele, ordered takeout...

we ordered 2 chicken bowls that I would rate at a 5/10 and edamame that I would rate at a 6/10 (we actually were able to eat this part of the meal). The miso soup was also a 5/10. (I eat at A LOT of Japanese and chinese restaurants)

Here's the unfortunate part that really made the already not so great meal not worth $50...

The bowls came with salad and a sauce that tasted like honey mustard, which has no business being on a Japanese salad or any salad. Ordered a Vegas roll that went in the trash due to it being so soggy it fell apart when picked up. They also did not specify that the vegas roll is not actually a true vegas roll, it is a spicy tuna roll with 75% rice. I feel this should be clarified so customers do not feel like they are throwing money in the trash when they order a vegas roll and get a mouth full of cheap tuna instead. To top it off, the hostess over the phone had the nerve to flat out ask for a tip, I think any business owner in the world would understand that this practice is highly unprofessional. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and tipped $5 to a hostess that provided no service to me besides handing me a couple of bags that contained half mediocre food and half trash.

I do take into consideration the fact that COVID has left many restaurants in borderline ruin for many reasons. However, I patiently waited my 1 hour for pickup and still expect my...
