Charritos Mexican Food — Restaurant in Tooele

Some of their dishes are decent but this review is specifically about their breakfast burritos. Growing up in Utah, I may have ended up with a completely uneducated view of what makes a good breakfast burrito like some of the other reviews here, but then I spent 5 years in Arizona, and got educated on what good breakfast burritos are.

You can get them in Utah, but not from charritos.

The good: they use potatoes as a filler

The bad: they commit the #1 Cardinal sin of using potatoes, they are boiled and not browned, seasoned or fried in any way before being put in your burrito.

This isn't just an opinion either. It's a well known fact in the culinary world that browning food improves foods flavor and texture through the maillard effect.

This creates horrible texture problems, and lends zero taste to the burritos. Every bite with a potato in it is a bland, grainy, starchy ball of meh.

Unfortunately for those of us who live in Tooele, we have no other options for good breakfast burritos.

This is SO EASY to fix Charritos, just Fry your potatoes while the protein is cooking, it's so easy and would drastically improve your product.

The menu does not reflect the actual prices they are charging you for items. Their menu says a chicken quesadilla is $6.50 and also comes with a medium drink. But when I asked why I was being charged 9 something the employee told me that their kiosk says it’s $8.59 and that is doesn’t come with a drink. They had literally just updated to a new menu board so why isn’t the price reflecting on their kiosk inside. The last time I went, an employee changed the price for me because that’s the price the menu says and that’s the price that customers are seeing and think they are paying.At first this employee(Luis he said his name was) said he didn’t know how to change to price, I asked if he could please call a manager to show him how, he called and he said she told him how to do it but then told him he couldn’t change the price for me. He said the managers name was gabby but I have no idea if that’s true. This is usually my favorite Mexican food in Tooele but today I wanted a chili Verde smothered burrito, no beans. I asked the young lady if it would be an enchilada if i dint want beans and she referred me to sn enchilada plate. What i got was a cold dry corn totilla filled with unmelted cold cheese covered with shred lettuce, no chili verde. I took it back and asked for the chili Verde and showed the young lady what i received. I thought perhaps they would at least warm & melt the cheese. Instead I received the cold dry corn tortillas with the same cold lettuce, shred cheese with what looked and tasted like light brown water. There were 3 small squares of pork. Very disappointing.
