There are not enough words or stars to express how much I adore this coffee shop, especially the downtown location. You can tell how much Doug pours his heart and soul (and espresso) into his cafe. The art exhibits are cycled every couple of months, I believe. Both locations feature local artists who hang their musings on the walls and into the eyes community, giving everyone (locals and visitors), a chance to connect and even support local businesses and art communities. The ambiance is quiet, warm, and inviting. Their radio is soft enough to have pleasant conversations over but just loud enough to take in your surroundings. In addition, their music selection is broad: from the 60s to current hits – No matter what is on their radio, it adds that extra touch of familiarity. Every Thursday, I stop in with large drink orders, which Nicole and Doug handle like champs. To add, they remember names and orders – and not just mine and my co-workers: Time and time again, I witness a patron walk through the front door, and Nicole or Doug are already preparing that person's order and greeting them by name and a smile. This coffee shop is a staple and a beloved gem of the Topeka Community. I love this place and I love you, Doug and Nicole! Thank you for making my mornings so...
Read moreI'm shocked, and the owners should be grossly concerned with how the employees are representing this establishment in their absence. I came in this evening 7/1/19 around 5:45 pm. I needed a cafe that offered wifi as I am in town for work and had a very important business assignment to complete this evening. I called ahead to make sure wifi was offered. I ordered a drink and went to seat myself, and the music was BLASTING over every sitting area. I don't know how else to describe the music other than nasty ghetto rap that an establishment has NO business playing, let alone a CAFE. Every other word was Ner, sht, fuk, a, the names go on. Music about drug dealing, robbery, and capping ases. Not just one song, but EVERY song. Last time I checked, I was in Topeka, not Detroit. I ended up getting up and leaving. The Pennant down the street offers much better service, drinks, and a way better atmosphere. Absolutely...
Read moreI go there for lunch but have been very disappointed recently. Seems their salads are getting smaller and their prices higher. Today was my last straw. I ordered a salad for lunch. The kid at the front took my order and asked for my name. Told me they would call my name or bring it out when my order was ready.....I waited...and waited.....and waited....finally after 25 minutes I went up to the desk and told them I had to leave that I had to go back to work. Their were two women in the back side of the partition and an older man and the younger kid in the front, just having a casual conversations that I had to interrupt. The kid walks over, grabs my bag off of the partition and hands it over. It had been sitting up at the front for who knows how long. I got back just in time to not be late and tried to secretly eat between...
