I absolutely loved my stay at this hotel! We stopped at the hotel on our way to Colorado to break up the trip. This hotel is one of the cleanest I've ever stayed at. Not a single hair on the bed. Well dusted. The floors were clean. I love that the floors are not carpeted as I find hotel carpet to be disgusting.
The room we stayed in blew us away as it was huge! The king bed is a true king, not a hotel king. It was clear the sheets had been changed. We stayed two nights once on the way to Colorado and once on the way home. The bed our first stay was really firm and not too comfortable. The pillows were nice. The bed our second stay was much nicer. It also had a mattress protector while the other did not.
I searched the bed and furniture each time to check for bugs and found nothing! So I'm not sure why one mattress had a protector and the other didn't but didn't see anything concerning. I do not like the headboards on the bed, I feel like if the hotel does have a bug problem in the future it would make it very difficult to treat. I worried about how the hotel can keep those clean (but they looked fine when we stayed so they must have their ways!)
The restaurant and bar were very reasonably priced and the food was awesome! The perfect amount of food, and the drinks were strong.
The real win of this hotel for me was the overall atmosphere. It is a very aesthetically pleasing hotel. It is not cookie cutter like other hotels. I definitely love staying at Mariotts, we always have great experiences at them. Overall 100/10 experience. The hotel was also incredibly quiet to the point I wondered if we were the only guests haha (we did stay on weekdays, so I'm sure that had a role).
If you're looking for a place to stay in Topeka I highly recommend this hotel. I don't anticipate my family will ever be back in the area but if we are I'm definitely staying here again.
The hotel is also right off the interstate which was nice. The only downside is the parking situation is kind of annoying. Street parking, find your own,...
Read moreWe have stayed here several times. The hotel itself is very unique and the small details were a huge component throughout... the overall design is top notch! I feel like the best way to describe it is industrial-retro-modern. The rooms-minimalist approach with traditional comfort, very spacious & the beds are so comfortable, but I dislike their choice of an open rack for a closet, a variety of size options to suit your needs. The bathrooms-I love the modern design & title work plus the small amenities beyond toiletries are nice. The staff-friendly, accommodating, attentive and they all have very unique style from their hair, outfits, tattoos and piercings. We had the best experience at the bar with Kolton who is an aspiring tattoo artist & Caroline who went to school for theater & has killer green eyes! They went above and beyond... were great bartenders and company for conversation! The food-everything we ordered was delicious! My favorite was the steel cut oats and all the toppings for breakfast. They offer a coffee bar in the mornings. Outdoor seating for the main restaurant. The conference/event rooms/area was spacious with a really nice set-up. Additional perks-there is a main level outdoor area with fire pit & there is a "rooftop" deck off the 3rd floor with a view of the main strip where they host live music. The DETAILS-the bar stool are upholstered in a velvety sea-foam green fabric and are very comfortable, the long high-top booth seat in the bar as tiny former president statues lined up on the back, the lighting fixtures throughout are very unique and stylish, you'll find details throughout that pay homage to Cyrus K. Holliday (whom the hotel was named after) and Kansas throughout the hotel. The best addition to Topeka thus far. Kudos to the owner, Cody Foster for trying to revitalize downtown Topeka with The Cyrus as well as the Pennant across the street and the Iron Rail a short walk...
Read morePoor check in experience. Nice hotel, good amenities. Overall fine, could have been much better.
When I arrived, the person at the front desk was on the phone with a future guest who was receiving A LOT of information about the hotel's amenities and he took over 20 minutes on the phone answering questions and making the reservation while I waited to check in. When it was my turn, he barely greeted me, took less than 5 minutes to check me in, take my credit card for incidentals, describe the layout of the hotel, and explain where the parking garage was located. After patiently waiting while he was on the phone for such a long time, I really expected to receive the same level of customer service that was bring provided on the phone. If he was going to take so little time to interact with me, it would have been appreciated if he would have asked the guest on the phone to hold while I got checked in. This was unacceptable and I was unimpressed. That being said, the property itself is quite nice. It's spacious, modern, quite, and located in downtown Topeka. My room was clean, however there were some water stains in the bathroom that made it look like it hadn't been cleaned and makes it feel and look dirty.
Things to note - The parking garage is a confusing because it's not attached to the hotel. Additionally guests must park between levels 8-11. The garage has an elevator, but no matter where you park, you'll have to take the stairs at some point to get into the hotel. You also have to cross through the back alley to get from the garage to the hotel - so don't forget your key! No access otherwise. This might have been less confusing if I had been give SOME information, but I had to figure it out on my own. Breakfast is not included and is an additional charge you have to pay...
