It's been 20 some years since I've been able to have Schlotzskys as the local one where I'm from closed while I was living overseas. We actually went to the strip mall for the smoke shop, needing cigarettes and that being the closest one that popped up.
Imagine our excitement pulling into the parking lot and seeing this place on the corner. My co traveler thought I led us there on purpose, but I honestly didn't even think to look if a schlotzkys was in the area.
Anyhow, we went in and despite over 2 decades having passed, the menu was mostly familiar. Ordering a previous favorite for both of us, we sat down in anticipation for the food to be done.
It was OUTSTANDING! The sandwiches were thick enough to make taking a bite a challenge. The soup as warm and creamy and delicious as remembered. The chips just as crisp.
The staff friendly as ever during our ordering/checkout/pick up times.
However, an older lady came out after we were sitting there eating for a few and started berating a younger lady for opening a roll of change because she had to count it all when the younger ones shift was done.
Ok? That couldn't have been quietly addressed in the back away from customers? There was no reason except a power play to embarrass the poor girl like that. I told her next time, make it worth it and open up every single roll of change most new drawers start with. She half giggled and looked back over her shoulder as if afraid the older lady was standing. There ready to yell again.
Think about how your actions reflect on the staff, the store, and what customers end up thinking about the service lady.....before pulling such a ridiculously uncalled for stunt and purposely Making someone feel worse for the day. It's unappealing and unappetizing.
Rest of the staff was outstanding and we appreciated ya'll more then you'll ever know! Thanks for being a bright spot on a...
Read moreI used to work for this store and lemme say, its the absolute worst of the 3 schlotzkys in topeka. I can not believe it took me a year to get away from the scene. If you want to be helped by someone with a bad attitude, or have your life threatened, or FIND A SCREW IN YOUR SANDWICH?!?!?!?!? Then definitely eat here.
Do be careful though, as the assistant manager Megan, is EXTREMELY dangerous and has known gang affiliations. She had a "friend" (her baby's dad) come up and threaten a child with A gun. A CHILD!!! If that wasnt bad enough, Most of your food will be prepped by a drunk employee who can often be found behind the store during late afternoon or evening hours, drinking a cheap bottle of malt liquor or bottle of vodka with the homeless that like to hang out by the dumpster out back.
Cockroaches live behind the walls in the bakery. If you hit the wall, you can feel it's hollow behind it and 2 or 3 at a time will fall from behind it. The general manager just says (oh it probably came on the vegetable truck) but does it really matter where it came from? Fact still remains you have cockroaches. And maybe they'd have less cockroaches, if the management quit changing the stickers on the food. I was told COUNTLESS times to send out salad that clearly was not ethical to feed people. A chicken loaf was dropped in the trash and she picked it up, washed it off, and continued to have it sliced to serve to the public.
I'm aware most restaurants have issues they're working out with cleanliness, but if any of them are half as bad as this place is, they'd still be a better place to spend your money than...
Read moreThere’s a young lady in there with blue hair. This is the second time I’ve come in this week and she’s had some sort of attitude.
The first time the registers stopped working and me and my s/o were patient we weren’t in a rush, she apologized and we said it’s okay. She then proceeds to mutter under her mask getting irritated. (I understand, it’s getting busy, she doesn’t know how to handle the situation) I wouldn’t have brought this up had this not happened last night.
I order my sandwich’s at 6pm online for pickup at 8:15pm. I order the pick 2 and a small sandwich. I go up there and I walk in, I see her look over from the sandwich station, roll her eyes and yell “ONE IN” she then, shakes her head and says oh my god, as if it’s an inconvenience that I came in, (while she’s making a sandwich) she then throws the lettuce all over the topping station.
She seems to have an attitude of someone who doesn’t enjoy or want to work there. She made me feel unwanted as if I was an inconvenience as a customer to go in there, and not only that, my sandwiches weren’t even made correctly and they sucked. There was missing stuff on there, there was stuff I said to take off still on there. (Onions and tomato’s- which soaked into the bun)
So quite honestly I’d give her 2/5 stars only because she may have been having SEVERAL bad days at work.
And I’d give the food 1/5 stars.
Really...
