We love to go to Korean BBQ and have tried at least a hundred different restaurants. The service here was abysmal. We came here on a slow Tuesday evening before the dinner rush. The girl at the front desk was very rude and seemed annoyed to greet us when we arrived.
Our grill was set so hot that the corn cheese and egg side dishes started burning brown before the meat even came to the table.
If you advertise as full service it should be full service. Otherwise we would have had a better meal had we cooked the food ourselves. Our waiter was so hurried and just threw the tongs on the grill after turning the meat. The meat was burned black on one side before the waiter made it back to our table. We sat there awkwardly realizing that there was no way he could cook for us properly and ended up cooking the food ourselves. Not enough staff and poorly trained in service. I felt bad for the couple next to us who seemed less experienced with KBBQ. The meal ended up feeling very rushed.
Please beware that not all Baekjeong locations are equal. A few years ago we went to Baekjeong Buena Vista on a Disneyland trip and had a much better experience. At the time we remember asking the waitress about cooking technique and learned that the staff go through extensive training on cooking the meat. We were wowed by her skill and learned a lot watching her cook. This recent visit at Torrance was a huge disappointment. I saw on the website that the restaurant chain is expanding and new locations are opening. Sadly it seems that the quality cannot be maintained with new locations.
In total we spent over $200 for two people. For that price, the service we received was unacceptable. There are much better places you can go that are much...
Read moreKBBQ how it should be. Fine cuts of meat and so much unlimited quality banchan that you'd explode from eating them alone.
Party of two and seated with in 5 min. At 5 pm. Sunday.
Beef Small Combo. 59.99$ - I know what you thinking. No way is that enough. For two hungry people it was more then enough. Trust. But for three adults, maybe.
The Salad alone is GREEN. This a plus. Fresh green romaine lettuce in the vinager and garlic? We ate three bowls worth.
The Green Onion pancake is delicouse. We had three of this as well.
Kimche is great and the cold daikon soup was a refreshing palate cleanser.
A side of nori. I suggest you toast and salt it your self. Alone it is hard and chewy like sushi nori paper.
Beef tofu soup was good. But super mild. We should have asked for it spicy next time.
A small bowl of rice. Bean sprouts and chives in chili paste was great.
EGG around the grill is a nice touch. But with so much meat and banchan the egg feels extra. But nice to have.
Started with brisket, simple and Yummy. We like it cooked extra till it gets crispy.
The Steak and Short rib to finish were a good finisher.
We didnt have to cook ourselves. A plus. Just sit back and enjoy!
The service was good. Not OMG great. A bit dry. Not bad.
Asking for items or refills took a few tries. But we eventually got our items.
If your used to AYCE KBBQ you'll be happy here up to a degree. But if all you want is piles and piles of meat. This isn't your joint unless you like to pay premium for it.
Great Quality meats and sides. Price was just on point and we had an enjoyable time.
Enjoy...

At first you think this is a pricey & trendy KPop restaurant... until you sit down. The high-tech wait time was about 20 minutes at 8PM, on a busy New Year’s Day. Your walk-in reservation is taken on a tablet and texts are sent for wait and table ready times. We waited in front of possibly the owner’s stand-up, life-size caricature...
Your table is prepped before you sit down... Prepped meaning all the K-ppetizers; pickled & spiced veggies, 3 kinds of salad, meat dipping sauce, and a cold white soup in front of a BBQ grill with a fancy retractable air exhaust system...the waiter(s) cooks for you and adds extra items around the grill (in 3 separate crevices around the grill) as your meats are cooking; pieces of onions and green & red bell peppers, scramble eggs, and creamed corn (corn with cheese on top).
We ordered the beef BBQ combo (3 kinds of meat), rice, and tea... total with taxes = $70.07... “Perfect” from the start to end.
Three things to ultimate perfection and for Critique’s sake; 1. Since we told our waiter it was our 1st time there, it would help if he took a minute to go over what they prepared for us on the table. 2. A free dessert (something sweet) or a small dessert menu. 3. We ordered hot tea but we got cold “tea water.” These did not affect our rating of 5 Stars!
Go, eat here... you too...
