Chili's Grill & Bar — Restaurant in Torrance

Service was very, VERY slow, and a lot of the food was cold. Our sever, Michelle, deliberately (I believe) refused to make eye contact with any of her tables as she walked through her section making it difficult for customers to get her attention for anything we needed. The fries that I ordered along with our appetizer were brought out to our table before anything else, and they were so cold, they were inedible. Once Michelle finally got around to checking on us again, I let her know and she took them back, and when the new ones came out with the appetizer platter, they were hot, but the Southwestern egg rolls were barely lukewarm. The time it took for each thing we ordered to come out and for Michelle to come by and check if we needed anything was horrendously long. By the time I received the Cholula and limes I requested for my shrimp tacos, they were already getting cold too. As we were eating, we overheard the table next to us discussing a mistake Michelle had made on their check. As such, we carefully reviewed ours when it came, and she had made an error on ours as well. This isn't a case where the restaurant was so busy that it would have been impossible to keep up with service and food quality. A large number of tables were being left unused the entire time we were there, even though we ourselves (a party of 2) had to wait 30 minutes to be seated. We decided to try this Chili's after a similar bad experience at the one in Carson, but now I'm starting to think that maybe it's just the chain itself. In celebration of the eclipse figured I'd drop in for a mid day lunch on a Wednesday. Ordered up online for pickup, cause that is my favorite way to grab food; pull up type in the app and voila the food arrives. BUT not this time, staff's device could not read the gift card so I had to get out and go to the back of the restaurant only to get to another machine that could read the barcode/giftcard (boo I like to sit in my car, if I wanted to go inside I wouldn't have ordered online). I suppose not the staff's fault but maybe process's in place at the restaurant need some work (he sure did hold onto the bag of food the whole time, wonder if they have people running away with bags of food they ordered online using an account they setup a lot and not paying; I swear were not crooks; it's food not gold) Gave the south western egg roll app's a try; those could use a different dipping sauce or reconfigure of the ingredients inside; moist enough in profile but the oil used to cook seemed to be resident inside a bit; maybe cheese could fix it; it does fix a lot of stuff. Picked the salad, fair warning warning it's a cup - o -salad about the size of an ice cream scoop. NOGO is the Fries; stay far away from the togo fries, they were soggy and a little cold (maybe having to do with the non readability of their checkout device and trip inside taking too much time), they could use a sprinkling of flavor btw. The hero was the burger and the brioche bun, nice combo and the meat quality was on point; not greasy; just simply worked...

I have been a local since 2023-i am homeless living at the Torrance Homeless shelter, where they feed us baby portions leftovers, and food sucks! So much the shelter THROWS AWAY UP TO 35 EXPENSIVE PLASTIC CONTAINERS OF FOOD, BECAUSE LEFTOVER FOOD REMODIFIED IS UN- EDIBLE! PLUS EGGS ARE FAKE AND BEANS RAW AND HARD! Un HEALTHY ! SO MY FRIENDS READING THIS- When I got my temporary disability check- I came here to my local Chili's to eat a real dinner! First- Everyone from the seaters to the servers to the managements, Maria and Bo and the wonderful Latin manager- including the wonderful bartender girl who takes care of her elderly parents -know me by face- that's important! Only knowing each others faces, all hug me and give me love asking how I am and briefly sharing how they and family ARE- THAT'S SO IMPORTANT TO ME- and it should be important to you! A lesson learned- We need not hang out together to be caring and loving Friends!!! After being released from hospital- I came here at 9: 40pm, and STAFF ASKED " Are you ok, we missed you!" Can you receive this kind of love anywhere else?! Now- to the food. I always order the same 2 modified meals, which All servers know!- and where can You receive that?!: 3 for me #1 6 oz classic sirloin- raw Loaded mash potatoes No broccoli- french fries Happy hour house wine Plus I get to have a soda of my choice to go- even though I drank wine!
