Dave’s Hot Chicken — Restaurant in Torrance

Three strikes you're out... I'll never go to another daves location for the rest of my life on Earth. I have had enough of the overly greasy chicken with inconsistent hot levels but this location took it to another level of failure when they added the tablets. I walked in to see a massive line of people waiting and the line wasn't moving and the staff wasn't saying anything to anybody. Everybody in the line was on their phones. After 20 minutes of waiting without the line moving at all I asked the person next to me, what is going on, are you waiting in line? Is everyone ordering online? He then proceeds to tell me, oh no I'm not in line. I then realized that across the room there is a giant tablet. I need to order right now so I'm not going to waste time, I go right Up to the register to place my order and the lady has the nerve to tell me Oh I'm not going to take your order just go take it on the tablet right now unless you have cash. I said I do have cash she said Okay well wait a few minutes anyways. Whatever. 25 minutes wasted, horrible service. That's fine. I proceed to walk over the tablet only to have it be the most confusing experience on a computer in my entire life and I am a computer scientist who builds computers for a living. This interface was so horrendous that after about 3 minutes I still hadn't even finished selecting a meal. It was extremely confusing with how they laid everything out without showing me what I was updating along the way. I couldn't tell if an option was optional or if it was forced nor could I tell what the hell I was even building. It was super confusing and terrible to deal with. 3 to 5 minutes into this horrible experience and I haven't even figured out how to get one item on the menu yet. Remember I am a computer scientist who builds computers and I'm 36 years old and I build apps for a living. They might want to hire me. As I'm sitting at this horrible tablet experience remember I am 30 minutes in and I still haven't even gotten the chance to place an order. I then hear the exact same girl who said she wouldn't take my order taking the order of a couple who was behind me and who had just arrived after I was waiting for 20 minutes. She took their order within 30 seconds before I can even select my first meal. I was so enraged that I decided that's it, I've had enough. This place is so disorganized and horrible without any understanding of what the hell is going on or where the line is. There is no marker there is just a red line and everybody is blocking it. I'll never go back to Dave's again. It used to be great back in the day but the quality slowly slipped over the years until the pandemic when it just plummeted. Now it's just garbage greasy chicken that's overpriced....

Never coming back to this location again👎 First of all, I expected the employees to have a better attitude also it was my first time at this location, I did not get a welcome or a smile whatsoever, the employee just stood there until I was ready to order, which I thought was very rude. I asked for two #4s slider w/fries, one very hot and the second medium. The very hot wasn’t even spicy AT ALL, until the last bite, I assumed the entire slider would be “very hot” since that’s what I asked for. The second slider was overly seasoned, had no type heat, at that point is it still considered medium? It wasn’t spicy AT ALL! Also the fries weren’t fresh, they were cold and too salty, something you wouldn’t expect especially for the price you’re paying for. And when you’re coming out from work, tired, you don’t expect to get a shitty service and disappointing food for $40+taxes and I didn’t have the time to check my order when I paid for what I asked for, to go. I also asked for a top loaded shake, it wasn’t filled to the top so I asked one of the employees if I can get more Oreos, the employee told me that they already put the correct amount but she offered to give me two more spoons of crushed Oreos in a separate cup. However, I did not realize shortly after I left the establishment, it was not thick at all, what you would expect from a real shake, especially since I wasted a whopping $10+taxes for it, was pure liquid, I did not have the time to go back since I was in a rush, however, it’s not my fault I shouldn’t have to check my order, or better yet, taste my order to make sure it’s accurate. I’m never buying from this location again..don’t...

The series of events that took place at this establishment were atrocious, to say the least. The staff need to be re-trained on proper customer service protocols because they lacked professionalism, efficiency and decency. WE HAD TO CALL THE POLICE! There were 4/5 young boys inside the restaurant that were directly blocking the door and preventing people from entering or leaving the restaurant. When my husband and I approached them to leave, I asked them if they could move over to let us go by, and informed them of the fire safety hazard they were causing by blocking the door. They immediately got an attitude and started to verbally attack us inside the restaurant. NONE OF THE STAFF STEPPED IN. Then we left to go to our car and they FOLLOWED us out and were trying to entice us into a physical fight. My husband was urging me into the car when TWO of the boys PULLED OUT GUNS and started to threaten us with them. And again, NONE OF THE STAFF HELPED OR CALLED THE POLICE. Once we got in our car we proceeded to call the police ourselves and report the incident. Meanwhile, the boys remained inside the restaurant with their GUNS and NOT A SINGLE STAFF DID ANYTHING. This entire altercation could have been avoided if the staff were trained properly on being vigilant and done their job. Needless to say, we will most certainly never be back at this particular...
