Islands Restaurant Redondo Beach — Restaurant in Redondo Beach

The burger was delicious as always. However this is the second islands location I've been to in the last 2 months using some new shady salesmanship.

Twice now I've went with another person.

We've both ordered separate burgers which come with a side of fries.

Rather than giving us each our own side of fries they just put own bowl in the middle of us and walk away.

We are left looking like uhm is this one mine or yours ?

And by the time the confusion is sorted out and you ask where is the other person's fries your burger is there...

So they tell you "oh that's shareable" uhm

No. If I like a bunch of salt and pepper on my fries and to douse it with ketchup and they like little salt and pepper with ranch that's not sharable.

It also says on the burgers we ordered that each comes with a side unlimited fries. Not one shared bowl.

Some consultant must have come in a said you guys could save a bunch of money by not throwing away so many fries or giving out so many, but instead it's confused and upset customers.

I thought it was just the Manhattan Beach location doing this but it was the Redondo one too so that's very saddening.

Update 12/22/19 My brother came to visit. He and my father went there. They had the same issue so apparently nothing was changed.

Sad to see customers happiness doesn't matter as much as saving...

Today's visit left me incredibly dissapointed. We we're seated by the hostess & immediately greeted by Jose the server. He took our drink order, then returned to take our food. After our food came, he asked if everything was good & he never came back, until it was time to pay for our meals. Other staff came to drop off our drinks, food, & extra napkins. Jose never came back to refill our drinks, there we're 6 of us & we had 1 drink the entire meal, I don't mind this, but Jose never came back to check on us. Jose however was an avid visitor of the other tables in "his" section & a fan of the Green Bay Packers, so much so, that when they won their game, he walked over to the bar & another patron wearing an 87 jersey, both rejoiced in a chest bump in celebration! We were willing to order more beers & even a dessert since it was our 5yr old's birthday, but we figured the games we're much more important to Jose today. Nonetheless, this has never happened to us, & its no bad savoring on the Island's chain. (I worked there 17 yrs ago) but Jose please continue to enjoy your Football Sunday, because that what working at Island's...

Lunch time i was hungry. The waiter upon walking in made me wait with no one in front of me to be seated. I started to turn around and walk out when he came to the " be seated podium " escorted to the 1st nearest booth at the entrance door. I refused his selection then escorted to the very end of the restaurant close to the outdoors patio. Sitting there another 5 minutes had passed the same person took my order. That order took 20 minutes before I received my drink, turkey burger plus onion rings. The restaurant bar area was full of patrons drinking adult beverages while watching the televisions chatting loudly. It seemed to me that the same staffer at the front made me wait, was the same person that took my order and made me wait 20 minutes for my drink and food order. I have been to other Islands location (Manhattan Beach Village) service there has always been prompt, staff courteous and orders were delivered in the correct...
