Maui Chicken — Restaurant in Torrance

Saw the good reviews, so I thought hey, why not?Thought i'd give it a go. While the chicken wasn't bad per se, I had other problems. First, I asked for some vegetables to be added to the chicken bowl at an extra cost. Vegetables, the word, is plural, meaning multiple (usually broccoli, carrots, maybe some steamed cabbage, cauliflower). All I got was broccoli (picture to be attached). Next, I wanted some water. Well they had a water on the counter that was luke warm tap water. I get it, lots of mom and pop shops don't have the resources to afford a fountain machine with filtered water, but you'd think they'd at least invest in some purified water for people to drink (hell I got one at home and I'm not even running a business).

So why 2* instead of 1? Well the gentlemen at the counter could clearly see I was displeased on getting only some huge chunks of broccoli and asked if I wanted anything else. Otherwise this would be a one star. I definitely won't be back.

Portion size was on the smaller size as well.

I’m amazed. I was just passing by and decided to have Maui Chicken. DELICIOUS! I ordered salmon and avocado poke bowl, 100% recommend this place. Service amazing, they are very polite. It was a very hot day, I forgot to order water or anything to drink, the owner gave me a cold water bottle before leaving and said “it’s a very hot day outside, have some water”. They literally treat you like family. I saved this place in my favorites, I’m coming back. It wasn’t the free water for me, it was how kind they are here, they are laughing all the time, very nice energy. Food is AMAZING, taste and freshness are incredible. Portions are perfect, not too much rice. The plate comes with rice, A LOT of toppings, salad and mac&cheese for $19. It’s not overpriced at all, I don’t mind paying, when food and service are 5 stars. Thank you Maui Chicken, I’ll be back soon.

I'm rating it four stars and not five due to the fact that this shop is good, but can do better. I've mentioned it a few times to the guy that works in the front, for most days but as a constant goer we need to start some type of reward or give-back system. Maybe because most places I visit have a cool system as such like Fivestar- maybe you'd have more visitors if this incentive was implemented. Alongside this, the service could be better and more enthusiastic but again I cannot judge by the service I compare to with Chick-fil-A.

Their poke is delish! But a bit expensive for a 1/2...
