My family and I tend to eat here a lot because they serve decent food for a decent price. Today we waited about 10 minutes after being seated for their waitress to even acknowledge us. When I asked her if she could please take out order she very angrily said that she was too busy and that we needed to wait. I walked to the front desk and I told them what had occurred and that I did not want her to serve my food. They offered to give me a discount for my inconvenience if I had her serve me. I was nice enough to not leave (since we had already waited to be seated) I agreed and went back. Everything went well after that until I went to pay the bill. I told the cashier that we were supposed to receive a discount and their manager Francine asked why and demanded that I tell her who had offered the discount with a disgusted look on her face. I told her that I didn't know but there were two people there. She continued to ask me for the name of the person (which to be honest she should know right???? She is the manager and should know who is working for her). When I again told her I didn't know she walked off angrily shaking her head saying, "he doesn't have authorization to do that." She told about 4 other people what had happened and then printed a new receipt with 10$ off and handed it to me saying I don't know why he did that. I think as a manager you should be happy that the people that work under your management are trying to make YOUR customers happy. I really expected more from someone in a position that high. I NEVER said I wasn't going to pay full price for the bill. All I wanted was a different server. It saddens me that their manager had this reaction and expresses herself like that to customers like me. I wonder what would happen if no customers consume anything at this location anymore. Hmmmm?!?!?! Food...
Read moreWe don't generally eat at norms because for years I ate there off and on and every time I did the food was cold I think that maybe it's the air conditioning makes your food cold real fast or something cuz I don't think they leave it sitting up on the counter that long it's just cold in the restaurant which makes the food cold I guess but anyway the food is always cold so I don't like eating there. We needed to get a quick bite and Norms was close so we went there after a long time and again disappointed I had the blackened salmon even my cat wouldn't eat it it was so dried out and the baked potato not cooked enough. So I threw away the salmon after paying $16 for it cuz it wasn't edible and ate only half of the baked potato brought it home and cooked it some more in the microwave and then it was good and it was hot. The only reason I would ever go there is to get the Cheesecake Factory white chocolate raspberry cheesecake the best thing on the menu. Except they charge you $7 the same price as Cheesecake Factory does but they give you a bigger piece Norms give you a little sliver and charges you $7 for it but it tastes delicious. Norms is mostly for seniors older people who have lost their sense of taste and don't have a lot of money to spend. Several years ago Norms used to have a chocolate brownie Sunday that was excellent but they've taken that off the menu that's no longer on the menu so if you want hot good tasting food go across the street the Hot N tot tastes better...
Read moreHabanero Bacon Jalapeno Cheeseburger - Luckily I asked for the Habanero Mayonnaise on the side, it was very creamy but had extremely little other flavor even though you could see tiny little yellow bits in it - I guess they grinded up habanero peppers and just stirred a little in. Definitely not the same as roasting habaneros and blending them into the mayo as a sauce, as there was no color change and almost no discernable taste difference from straight mayo. The fried jalapeno had good flavor and heat which obliterated anything but the creamy mayo flavor from the dressing.
I waiter asked me how I would like the burger cooked, which I replied "medium", I don't believe it makes any difference what you say as I still got well done, I believe the main problem isn't training, but instead is that the patties (2 -1/4lb, instead of 1 - 1/2lb) are just too thin ~5/16* that too fully cook them (165°) you can't have any pink left - just a little thicker than In/Out. The burger has no comparison to the very similar Jalapeno burger at Denny's which is much juicier and way way better dressing.
By far the best parts if the meal were fried jalapeno and the onion rings, which were cooked perfectly, the onion was still very juicy, albeit so juicy you need to eat them fairly quickly so the crust doesn't become soggy.
The service was very good though as it was ~3pm on a Sunday, and the restaurant was slow as that was between normal...
