Pesto's Italian Restaurant — Restaurant in Torrance

Nice service, but this is not authentic Italian food... this is probably one of the top worst Pizza/Italian places I've been to. The Sangria tasted like I made it myself (I am no chef), and the pizza tastes worse than the one my brother makes at home. My brother is at least half way decent, since he is half Italian, he tries.... I couldn't stomach or keep down a slice, I only took a few bites & stopped eating. It was just awful to me. The only thing I ate was the salad, and even then I didn't enjoy it. My mother is Italian, so we have a taste on what good Italian food is (Gaetanos, Bonello's, Scardino's, etc.) The setting is nice, the restaurant is nice, I like how it feels "Italian", but they aren't Italian. I repeat it is not Italian owned... I didn't want to be rude, and give it a 1-star, even though it almost is a one star. My mom rated it a 1 star, but I have my reasoning.

Maybe one day I'll go back and buy wine and try out the pasta. I hope it won't disappoint me too much... but who knows. If you can't make pizza, I doubt the pasta will be any good or even 'al dente'.

We all know what “home food” means. Yes, food that is made by your mother or grandmother, served under cozy dining table light, so natural that you don’t even think about what it tastes like. It’s just simply and naturally “good food.” Pesto’s Italian Restaurant is truly meant for that word.

To be honest, every Italian restaurant you search for are either fancy ones or “pizza and pasta” joints. This restaurant is neither. When you walk in and eat their food, you feel like every taste being “home food.” Nothing too fancy, nothing too cheap, but really homey. Just imagine like this. You got invited by your Italian friend and his/her grandmother cooked you some plates. And those plates may be completely normal to them. But to you, it’s not just another Italian plates. Just so good, you know? I actually don’t know how to describe this place further. You just have to try!!!

Of course, everyone who works there are super friendly and warm. We don’t go their often because of distance. But whenever we go pass by it, we go there.

Definitely try their Seafood Chioppino, which is just flawless, and Artichokes Gorgonzola Pizza,...

The food is really good. Have tried 4 different plates, and none of them has failed. Nice little place. Wish the outside was a little brighter. Besides that, great place.

Review 2... We have and continue to eat here at Pesto, but things have changed a bit for me... I have noticed that this is a 1 server place. Same lady all the time. She works really hard, yes, but she now has her daughter working also. She is too young to be there. She doesn't know how to count, subtract, or add. Every time we go there and she is at the register, we have some money issue. No good for business. Maybe they should hire some who can help do the register and maybe bus tables. Food stays the same, A+. The pink sauce is delicious, as well as the baked rigatoni. Pricing is anywhere between 15...
