Although there was nothing I disliked I was surprised that so many people wrote here and on Yelp such glowing reviews. Perhaps the customers who go here, have a lot of money to spend, because I thought it was high for what you get but then again, if I want to get seafood, I should go to a buffet where it does not cost $12.99 for 5 Oysters and if I want wings I will go to TGIF to get endless wings rather than spend $9.99 on I think six of the smallest wings (maybe from the price, they use organic chickens not fed with growth hormones) I have ever had although you do get a lot of crinkle fries. Bread pudding very good
Although the waiters were very nice, if you sit in the back room near the restroom and no one else is sitting there they do not come by that often and you have to get up and go to them. I am used to portions where I get so much I can take some home, not so here, these are portion sizes the government recommends you eat. There is not much ambiance (expect more for these prices) plain with little decoration, well lighted room (no need to use your Iphone to read the menu) and tables with paper tablecloths but the furnishings were not that comfortable. Hard wood chairs with no cushions with low tables and stools with no backing with high tables did not make it conducive to make one want to linger over the meal (which may be the point.)
I could not afford much, garlic pasta with mussels and clams, raw oysters, wings with fries, clam chowder and bread pudding dessert, what I had was fine, maybe if I cold afford the crab, lobster main entrees I may have raved more.
Seafood is more expensive and since I rarely eat it outside a buffet these may be reasonable prices, so if you can afford it go there and support your local...
Read moreWas nearby(car was being repaired at Toyota) and I was hungry. Wandered by the place and was looking at the menu and this guy walked out saying to me don’t look too long just go on in. And he headed to the parking lot. With that recommendation, I did. Do you like shrimp? You know good restaurants change. Not $12.99 a pound. Shrimp By You does. And would you like them peeled? Add $3. And yummy! Had a pound of peeled shrimp cooked in garlic butter with a bit of heat”Bang”(Also available is Bang Bang and Bang Bang Bang-lol). As starter to the meal had the Clam Chowder and as a side had corn on the cob. The corn and the chowder were well prepared but... BTW the guy that I saw originally was the Owner-Mike-super friendly guy. Spoke with him after the meal. Place has been there about two years. Hoping he stays many more. Anyway, you should expect a place with Shrimp in the name to be better than expected. And it was. I will be going back!! And I am telling my friends...
Read moreMy friends recommended this place so we decided to go check it out the other day. The food is similar to places like boiling crab, and tastes just as delicious. For dining out on a Saturday we we're fortunate because it wasn't that busy. We ordered shrimp, clams, muscles and added sausage to finish off the bowl. On the side we had oysters, chicken wings, rice, and a bowl of clam chowder. To finish off the night we split the bread pudding and the chocolate brownie. We enjoyed the whole experience. Pros: Extremely friendly staff All the food was delicious, the oysters were amazing and the deserts were phanominal You can ask to have your shrimp peeled (way easier then having to peel them yourself) The beer options are well thought out, I had 805 and it went perfectly with the food Reasonably priced for the area and quality of food Cons: More locations would be great, Torrance is quite a drive...
