I recently visited The Bullpen, a longstanding establishment in Redondo Beach where I've resided for three decades. While most of the food items were enjoyable, my experience was overshadowed by a concerning incident.
Upon observing a disagreement between the tiny round glasses wearing manager and a patron, it became evident that the restaurant enforces a strict policy against serving items from the children's menu to adults. Despite the patron's reasonable request for a grilled cheese sandwich, the manager adamantly refused, citing this policy. Why couldn't he offer an adult grilled cheese sandwich 🧐 easy enough right?
The situation was disheartening and embarrassing for all present. As a vegetarian who had previously ordered the grilled cheese sandwich, the patron's request seemed entirely reasonable. The refusal not only showcased poor customer service but also left a negative impression on nearby diners.
While I appreciate the need for restaurant policies, denying a paying customer a menu item, especially one readily available, is unacceptable. The manager's inflexibility and lack of empathy marred an otherwise pleasant dining experience.
I urge the restaurant's owner to address this issue promptly. Customer satisfaction should always be a priority, and arbitrary rules should not supersede common sense and hospitality. And never argue and embarrass a client for anything so simple!
If I ever witness such behavior from a manager, server or restaurant.. I will likely not return.I will definitely let the community know that they may be denied menus items, and may be embarrassed in public. Horrifying behavior do better tiny round glasses manager guy.🥸 Save your clown behavior for...

I have lived in South Redondo my whole life and have eaten at the Bull Pen many times. Every time I go there I get their yummy grilled cheese sandwich 🥪. I am a vegetarian and my boyfriend ordered a hamburger 🍔 and we ordered salads. I was also ordering a burger for my son to go. We were waiting for our food with a cocktail 🍸 when the sweet waitress came to me and said that the manager said I couldn’t have a grilled cheese sandwich 🥪 because it’s on the kids menu. I was like what ? I will pay extra if that is the issue? Got the snotty unprofessional manager and he refused to let me order the grilled cheese. I told him I have always ordered it and why is it an issue now? He Blamed it on the owner… I asked them what can I eat? He said a backed potato 🥔 Upset and embarrassed because people were watching we paid our bill for the 2 drinks and left. I am writing this post because I am shocked that BullPen management was not accommodating to me a paying customer and just let me have a grilled cheese sandwich 🥪. I am truly disappointed in this restaurant that is in my community and will never go back ever and neither will will my family and friends (who all live in Redondo)! After a very stressful day at work I just wanted my GRILLED CHEESE...
Read moreWe were celebrating friends 60th wedding anniversary, who live in the area. I drove out from Palm Springs for the occasion. Being from the Cape Cod area I was a little apprehensive about ordering Crab Cakes, however, they were on par to anything on the Cape, fresh, flavorful and delicious. My friends "the locals" and honorees raved about the Prime Rib they split and their son had the Halibut, everything was superb.
Our waiter, Josh, who is a member of the family, waited on us and made us feel special. My feeling is he has learned from the family how to treat customers. He went out of his way to provide Mrs. Lee with the special Chocolate Martini that she wanted, even though it's not usually served. She didn't think it was that good and didn't want to complain since it was a special request, but I prodded her to let Josh know. He had the drink remade and she was tickled pink. Not too many people I know have been married 60 years (as a matter of fact, the Lee's are the only couple I've ever known to reach this milestone.) Just want to let you know how delighted we were with the overall experience and that the Lee's made a pledge, since they live in the area, to have dinner their atleast once a month. I will surly join them on my visits. Thank you for a...
