Another amazing lunch at Riviera Mexican Grill in Redondo Beach. Saul started us off with chips and two of their delicious salsas. Tori was our server and bartender and was nothing short of fantastic. Tori is professional, knowledgeable, and most of all kind and a joy to talk with. We started with Don Julio Blanco with club soda and three limes muddled with mint, and they were so good. We also had the chicken taquitos for an appetizer. For our entrees, my wife had the chicken enchilada plate, and I had the chile relleno and chicken enchilada. Both dishes were hot and tasty. The ambiance is cool and comfy. This place is definitely a local favorite. Highly recommended for great food, great people, and great service!
Previous visit What a great find. This place is awesome, and the local clientele are very cool. Martin, Saul, and PM B. were all amazing. We started with chips and salsa, and their salsa is homemade and awesome. We had several Don Julio Blanco cocktails, and wow, fantastic. We had the chicken taquitos for the appetizer, and they were oh so good. Martin was great with fantastic conversation and efficient service. I had the Carne asada plate with a chicken enchilada, and my wife had two chicken enchadas. The place was awesome, and the decor was perfect. Jose, one of the other patrons, bought me a shot of Herradura Ultra extra anejo, and wow, what a great taste. I returned the awesome blessing with another round. The food, atmosphere, ambiance, and people were stellar. I will definitely be back. It's like Familia. Top shelf service, amazing food, and fantastic people with a stellar...
Read moreI understand that we are in a pandemic, but if a business cannot offer the highest level of quality and service, they shouldn't consider reopening. My husband and I went to Rivera Mexican Grill last night, the only good thing about the entire experience was we were seated immediately. Perhaps that should have been our first clue, as other restaurants in the area had over an hour wait. The server was friendly but completely overwhelmed, under trained and uneducated about the menu. We ordered a Blue chip salad each, and I order a special Margarita with salt, and super hot-hot sauce for our chips. What I received was a small margarita with NO salt, when I stated that was not what I order, she looked at me in a complete daze. I had to go to the bar and change out the drink myself. Still waiting for hot sauce 15-minutes in, we asked a bus-boy who brought us hot chili's right away, not exactly what we ordered but it worked. 35-minutes in we received our very warm, soggy salads and a saucer of hot-hot sauce. My husband and I looked at each other and just shook our heads. The salad was HORRIBLE! We know it's supposed to be slightly warm, but it had obviously sat under a heat lamp for much of our long wait. Looking around it was an entire room of frustrated patrons.
As soon as we got home, we were both so nauseated from the meal, it almost ruined date night.
My suggestion is if you go to another restaurant and they tell you it's a 40+ minute wait, that you should wait. Because you will wait once inside for your subpar food. I'd love to get my $60.00 back, I hope you...
Read moreWe have been loyal customers for over 20 years. Since returning to dine in service we have noticed a steady decline in the quality of the meals.
Last night it hit a new low. Instead of finding the dshes prepared in their customary style the chef decided to prepare our dishes in a manner he felt they should be prepared and obviously he missed the mark.
My mesquite grill chicken burrito was so loaded with cheese that it lost the flavor of the grilled chicken and the complexity of the mole sauce. Yes, I could send it back, but what was the use since the chef does not understand his menu and the food he serves.
What better highlights this than my wife’s camarones rellanos which were a disaster. The shrimp was over cooked and the dish was not prepare in the fashion it should be prepared, including missing sauces and just its basic structure. We made attempts to remedy the situation, but nothing was done to make this dish as satisfying as it one was or prepared with the same amount of care. Q
The kitchen needs to return to preparing the dishes in the manner it once produced. I will not say we will never return, but if I were a new customer I would certainly have that thought. As for my wife and me, we will probably be returning more dishes to the kitchen until they get it right.
Needless to say, this ranks number one or two among the most unsatisfactory meals we have ever had hands down. We are hoping these words do not fall lightly on the ears of the kitchen staff or those in the position to make the necessary...
