Perhaps my worst fast food sandwich ever last week. (3/2022) Driving home late not having dinner, one place in Waterbury was bulldozed, a supposed 24-hour Torrington diner was closed at 11 pm, but this Burger King was still open until midnight. We gratefully pulled into the drive thru and ordered two Ch'KING sandwiches, one spicy, one regular. Staff told us it would be a three minute wait. We were fine with this, thinking that meant they would both be fresh.
One was and one wasn't. The spicy chicken was hot, tender and moist. The plain or regular one was unbelievably bad. Biting into it, the "chicken" was rock hard, cold and dry. Struggling through almost half of it to hopefully find a soft spot, it never happened. Refried? Heated all day? The "meat" was indistinguishable. Even my partner gave up trying to eat what was left thinking reheating it in the microwave would bring it new life. No. Into the trash...after this photo. The fries were great. Perfect amount of salt, hot and crispy. Must have made them when they made the fresh spicy Ch'KING sandwich.
On the road again with no time to stop, my partner had to eat and decided to try the new Burger King Ch'KING chicken sandwich. BK says it's a hand-breaded chicken filet that comes with pickles on a potato bun in either a plain (classic) or spicy version. It has a mayonnaise based sauce on the bun. It's very similar to Chick-fil-A's well-known sandwich with crispy chicken and pickles but they butter their buns. The deluxe option leaves off the pickles and adds lettuce and tomato. It comes in a nice thick warming bag that some other places use. Overall, he said it's a good sized piece of chicken that is crunchy and moist and prefers the pickles to lettuce and tomato, better than many of the standard menu options from the three big chains and would get it again next time he's at a BK. With new entries coming out regularly, they're all worth a try if you eat fast food and are looking for improvement.
Long line around dinner time for the drive- through window but it moved quickly. We used a coupon received in the mail for the "Family Bundle" which included 3 Whopper sandwiches, three cheeseburgers, and three small fries. The man taking our order was accommodating in replacing two of the Whopper sandwich rolls that come with sesame seeds, to two chicken sandwich rolls that have no seeds. We added two bags of ten chicken tenders original for a dollar each.
Not the best looking Burger King structure wise in a worn out parking lot and with a narrow uphill drive-through entrance that tightly turns, so it could use some upgrades, but the food is still the same. I can always definitely taste the flame broiled flavor of their burgers they've always said distinguished them from other fast food hamburger chains even if it's just a smoke...
Read moreThis rating is purely on the service and not quality of food, because it's fast food and therefore more or less the same at any location. Now, that being said, I'm going with a 3 star review after plenty of visits and plenty of time to think on it. Starting with the publicly known, yes, if you are looking for "fast" food, this is not the place to look. If you can afford to spend at LEAST 15 minutes in the drive through, that's fine. Doesn't matter what time you pull through, it will always be slow. That would have been my only complaint, but I got some lunch there today before work. Pulled in around 12, left around 12:15ish. (Drivethru) I ordered an impossible whopper meal with no cheese (non meat sandwich for those that don't know) with an iced coffee. (I'm not vegan, just trying to go easy on the red meat here and there). Coffee was fine. But the burger they gave me was not the right burger. Was a meat burger with bacon for some reason(?) And the bacon was pretty stiff. And it had cheese. Now, again, it's fast food, so you get what you pay for. But if they're in such a rush that they need to toss any available burger into the next customers bag, I'd say steer clear in case you're lactose intolerant or have any allergies. And they ask if you want cheese when you order the impossible whopper, too. So again food? Exactly what you'd expect from a "fast food" place. Service? Less...
Read moreAs a prior employee in this establishment (If you'd call it that) I personally know that quality of the food is always the worry that you never quite know what you'll get when you order. Orders are often handed out wrong through the Drive-Thru, Customers inside the store seem never to be a concern except when corporate is around. The lobby is kept never in a great condition, Back set of doors hardly close proper. Trash is often spewed on the floor (From lack of changing and sweeping) and the trays pile up it seems nobody goes to grab them. There is also a leak in the roof by the line where you stand, it has a nice white bucket (Eye-sore) sitting there often filled with over a inch of water and other debris. The new soda machine that were put into the store are hardly cleaned and that area often running out of lids or straws. The counter often consist of clutter, having multiple spills on it. All around I recommend not going to this store unless it's...
