Wayback Burgers — Restaurant in Torrington

I was not impressed. I paid just over $11 for a burger, fries and a drink. The fries were ok, the burger looked and tasted like like ground beef that was pressed together by hand, like mom did back in the 70s when all we had was ground beef for dinner and she didn't want to make meatloaf. The drink was alright. The service was great. Overall this was nothing but an overpriced retro hipster burger chain with mediocre food trying to pose as a mom and pop burger joint and missing the mark on everything but service and cleanliness (both were excellent). Jake's needs to step up the food if they think $11 is acceptable for a burger with ragged edges they are wrong.

To the owner: My experience was fine, I just do not believe your establishment is delivering enough food value for dollar the staff are great, the building was nice and well kept, but the food lacks $11 taste and feel. Honestly it has about a $9.50 feel to it. You are so close and a little experimenting with spices and perhaps slightly less lean meat would probably get you there. This restaurant and location are excellent. I had never been to a Wayback and I was very impressed. The staff was very friendly and greeted everyone with a hello and a smile. They were helpful with the ordering process and it truly seemed like they enjoyed working there. The food was delicious and my particular requests were fulfilled both times I have dined there. Burgers, Great. Fries, great. If I had one complaint, the onion rings were a little lacking. I have only ordered them once but I felt they were a little over cooked for my taste. Not overly browned or burnt, just that the onion inside was very thin. I personally enjoy thick cut onions. And as I said, it may have just been a one off. I will definitely be going back when I am in the mood for a cheeseburger and fries. Where many fast food burger joints feel a bit procedural and average, I felt like I was at a small town family restaurant with great food instead of an average chain fast food restaurant....

So, this was my first time ever going to wayback.I went in with low expectations thinking 'Eh its just gonna be like mcdonalds or bk.' As soon as we walked in the atmosphere in their is so lively! U can watch them cook as u put in ur order, the prices are amazing for the food and the cashier was Amazing. Got the food home and look at the food and i was taken a back from the fires alone. Not in a small little cup like most fast food places but in a little basket! And the burger!! Not a small little disk but a acually pretty good sized burger! If u want a good meal for a good price, i would recommend them!
