First & last time here. Everyone raves, I wanted good chicken Alfredo-food was mediocre at best for the price. For the price I really should have just gone to DeCapo in Litchfield š¤·š¼āāļø overall experience with workers was HORRID. I have never in my whole entire life witnessed such poor customer service in the hospitality service. Order for pick up, went to window and was told that it was $66.56 for 2 chicken Alfredoās I specified for just the two Alfredoās? (Because sticker shock), She proceeded to say yes and I was like wow for that price I could make it for my whole family, she apologized and I was like itās not ur fault Iām just shocked and proceeded to give her payment. While she went to charge my card a guy (kitchen staff? Owner? Idk? But if this was the owner Iām absolutely disgusted and shocked) proceeded to come up to the window after over hearing the conversation stare at me as in means to intimidate me and didnāt say anything. When I wouldnāt break eye contact because why are you so close to me staring right now? Proceeded to ask the women I spoke to āwhat the issue wasā to which she said something (politely) along the lines of the price. He then came back around the corner to the window I was waiting at so close I could smell his breath and the alcohol on it and ask me what the issue was. To which he got the same response, I was just shocked with the priced to which he slurred his words and went on a rant about how itās not about the money but then proceeded to tell me thereās an up charge for the chicken. Okay, thatās fine. I was caught off guard to which we went back and fourth a million times jsut saying the same things with his voice getting louder with me. In what felt like a million years but was probably only 2 minutes I was handed my food by the waitress who honestly looked at me with like Iām sorry eyes and facial expressions. Once handed my food I just flat out said I honestly donāt care, I have my food, I tipped the lady, I just donāt care I want to go home, itās late. To which he continue to lean out the window and try to continue to tell me no. What on gods green earth do you mean no babe? Continued to try and go back and fourth with me to the point where I just walked away with my food and card in hand. Everyone has bad days. I understand, I have them as well. But to be in the hospitality service and be this stand offish, disrespect, and just belligerent is unacceptable...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreListen..... I know "5 stars" might be a little ridiculous, considering all of the Michelin rated chefs and restaurants out there (that I've never eaten at) ... However, this is seriously THE BEST FOOD AT A RESTAURANT IN PA, D.C., NEW YORK, OR JERSEY, THAT I'VE EVER HAD.
My father and I were in Torrington to pick up a piece of machinery. We stayed at the hotel right next door (basically...). The prices were expensive, but not more expensive than anywhere else we've ever been. And the food... man it was worth every single penny. We left with a second meal(leftovers). The portions were fantastic. So considering the size of the meal (and the amazing quality!), and considering you probably will get leftovers out of it, the price was excellent.
I had the lobster ravioli, and there were CHUNKS of lobster. We have a well known local seafood supply near us in scranton that we love (Southside seafood - for those interested seriously amazing fish) and these were way better the best I've had and freshly made (not taking anything away from s.s. their product is always stellar!) MY dad got the Mediterranean fish. It was enough for 2 people that were "starving"!(as well as delicious) i was stuffed after 3 or 4 of the ravioli, my father could barely eat 1/4 of what he was served...
I read the reviews and was somewhat skeptical. But not after that meal. (We also had salad, drinks and 2 soups and n appetizer of grilled shrimp risotto, all were amazing.) It's worth the 4 hour drive and I am writing this review about a month later only because I am recalling how good it was! Seriously, great job to Sarah, our server. The cooks/ chef and owner... I'll NEVER FORGET THE FOOD I received in my random one night stay in Torrington. Seriously. Go there. Tell them not to rush if you think im making this up.(I'll feel bad if you aren't as pleased with your meal. All the pasta seemed like it was made that day, including my ravioli and the care for freshness and authenticity truly showed.)
I'll be eating there again, even if I have to make up an excuse to drive to Connecticut, and pay 100 bucks for a hotel room. I was truly, honestly, floored by how good the meal was. Dine...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNot really sure why the reviews are so high for this restaurant. The prices were too high for the quality of food that was served. I ordered the chicken marsala. The portion was rather large but looks can be deceiving. I was served a large amount of pasta and a whole lot of button mushrooms and two tiny pieces of chicken. The pasta was overcooked. The sauce was bland. I have never had chicken marsala with button mushrooms before. If I am paying that much for a plate if food I expect quality ingredients and not a whole bunch cheap tasteless button mushrooms to cover the meager portion of chicken I was served. There was also bread crumbs on top of my pasta which was just strange and added nothing to the dish. After my disappointment with my entree we ordered the house made tiramisu that our waitress kept boasting about. The tiramisu looked like it was dropped on the floor and the thrown haphazardly on the plate. Piles of pudding whipped cream and lady fingers. Hersheys syrup poured on the top and splashed all over the plate. It didnt even taste like tiramisu. Barely any coffee flavor and I dont believe they used any rum. Not to mention tiramisu is supposed to be a layer cake not a pile of ingredients on a plate. I went in expecting authentic Italian food. What I was served was diner faire at best. Save some money and go across the street to Twin Colony. The quality of food is about the same which is not...
