Very torn in regards to the number of stars to give this place. Overall, it is not great (or at times even good) but a few of the items were so impressive our entire party agreed we would go back for them. Pros and cons below.
Cons: ~ Unfriendly staff and cold ambiance, honesty felt like we were inconveniencing the staff from the time we walked in. ~ Cold food. Quite a few of the buffet items were cold, not lukewarm but actually cold. ~ Terrible sushi. It actually looked suprisingly good, but the few people in our party who tried it (because it really did look tasty) said it was awful. (We all love good sushi) ~ Very few vegetables. You could piece together a basic salad or have the stir fried veggies but there wasn't much beyond that. ~ A number of the dishes really were bland, I think the hot and sour soup broth might have consisted soley of cornstarch and salt. 😳
Pros: ~ Everyone found at least one items they loved and would go back solely for that item. The peanut butter chicken, five spice shrimp, and the salmon fillet were the most popular and just delicious. ~ Lots of options! Even if you don't like 50 of the dishes, there are still plenty to choose from. ~ If they have something you like it's pretty damn inexpensive. $12.99 for apps, entree, and dessert? Hard to go wrong.
The cons may technically out way the pros, but the pros are pretty strong. I have been craving the peanut butter chicken since I started writing this review...so...
Read moreWent here today with my GF and our Son. First time we've ever been here, and we were looking for a Chinese Buffet to try while we were down from Maine. I'm an extremely picky eater when it comes to Chinese food, so as normal, was very skeptical. Upon entering, the gentleman at the door was extremely polite and inviting. We got seated right off, and drinks were served within moments of sitting. All of the waitresses were extremely polite to us, and they just LOVED playing with our son while we were getting food.
The food was extremely good, and way better than what I had expected. The Sweet n Sour sauce was the only thing I didn't care for at all on the Buffet. It was nearly flavorless, and not very sweet. Everything else made up for it. I tried everything from the fried foods, noodle plates, Sushi, and Lo-Mein bar. It was all great (yes, I had small portions of each, as I'm not a big guy, but wanted to try it all.) We were over all extremely pleased, and will be making a trip here everytime we come to Torrington CT now. Great job Torrington Super Buffet, you've just earned 2...
Read moreI would not recommend! We called ahead to make sure what the hours were, we were told a price per adult and child. We get there it was later evening but still 2 hours before closing, food was minimal in the pans. Some of the food was clearly there for a bit it was dried out. Some of the food was decent at best. They put the check on the table even before dessert. The total per person was a lot higher than told on the phone when we called, my daughter goes and pays the check while we were finishing off desserts and she was going to leave the tip in cash on the table and pay check by credit card. The hostess came to the table and rudely says please tip please tip, didn’t even give us a chance to finish dessert. We always tip when we dine out and were planning on it…as we were leaving the hostess pushed by me to go check the table and there was a cash tip on the table and then starts to say to the waitress I made them tip you! All because it wasn’t added to the bill and paid by credit card. WILL NOT...
