Cavallarios Bayside is a self-service restaurant offering pizza and other fast food items. The cashier and order taker were amicable, and the decor was tidy, but surprisingly, the food was disappointing, given the amount charged. The setting had a dock feel, being right on the water with patio-style tables and picnic-style tables. The decor is something of a drinking hole, dive-bar feel, but to their credit, it was clean and maintained. Some plantings and greenery would go far to enliven the drab decor. Some of the low points include the cash-only policy, whereas, as a Canadian forced to use the third-party ATM, I was treated to a 7% additional charge above that day's exchange rate. I think just the sight of an unbranded ATM screams of a tourist trap. The rather pricey food was drenched in deep-fried oil, and I should not have ordered them. The focaccia-style baked dish had only a flour-based white sauce and no tomato sauce; it had a light and crispy dough, but it’s probably inaccurate to call it a pizza. The restaurant could be vastly improved with table service, some plantings or greenery and credit card payment should be offered at the...

This was a disappointing service. We will not be coming back to Cavallaro's. It was in stages, when we walked in the restraunt looked nice from the outside and then on the inside we waited in life for 25 minutes because the guy at the counter was giving this guy a huge thing of beer and lemonade. We got up to the counter and asked the worker if they sold garlic knots and he was so rude to us he walked away for almost 3 minutes then he finally returned and screamed look at the board no, we don't have garlic knots so we decided to get 2 slices of pizza and a humus sandwich and 2 sodas it costed almost 30 dollars when we got it the pizza looked nothing like what everyone else got and tasted like box pizza after waiting for 19 minutes for our order. The customer service was disappointing and we where treated with disrespect and boorish behavior by the workers of the business. And we don't appreciate to spend 28 dollars when I could go to little caesars and spend 5 dollars for a better tasting pizza. We DO NOT recommend this...

Understaffed so it took 10 minutes for anyone to even come to the counter and take our order. It was almost $30 for one small pizza and some water which is ridiculous first of all. The wait time wasn’t given to us but after about 35 minutes we went to check on it as there was only one other table in front of us. We were told another 10 minutes. 15 minutes later I went up to check again and after stating that we were waiting close to an hour I was told with an attitude from a man who I assume is the owner “well the wait time for pizza is 25 minutes”…okay so explain to me where the extra half hour has gone…he went back to check and the pizza was magically done and cut sitting in the back getting cold. Gave me even more attitude before giving me my food. I had to go back up AGAIN because he didn’t give us our water. And after that long of a wait the pizza was pretty bad. Don’t waste your time or money, they don’t seem like they want to serve...

This place is listed as a "must visit" by many. I would suggest you skip it. We stopped by for dinner and we all had lasagna. The prices are crazy. A steak will cost you $30+. For the rest of the items you are looking at $15 plus. The lasagna was the cheapest at $15. Portion size was good, but taste, and quality was very poor. With the lasagna you get bread and salad or soup. We picked the ranch salad that was not fresh and was loaded with dressing - I think to camouflage the wilted leaves- when I told the waitress about the funny looking thing in my salad she said it was just lettuce and brush me off. They brought bread and water only once. The state of the room was poor for what you would expect a white table cloth type of establishment with those prices. McDonald's is In a better state with better quality food! In summary I will never go there again. and I strongly suggest you skip it too.

Great looking pizza. It is however cracker crust style. The toppings are great the sauce is good, just not a fan of cracker style. Tad greasy on the bottom with a grease aftertaste. Cheese leaves no pools of oil with is great. Next time will go with the sandwiches. For folders, not foldable. Cash only, order at the bar. We did toss out the half that we were taking home. I know they love cracker style in St. Louis, they must have too much lead in their water.

Summer isn't summer without a trip to eat pizza on the water at Cavallario's. Cavallario's is — hands down — the best restaurant in the bay. The location is right on the water with a fantastic view of the Upper James Street docks. Pete and Brenda are the nicest hosts and the food is fantastic, especially the gluten free pizza. We LOVE the new setup — grab a menu, seat yourself, and come to the counter to order and get a buzzer.
