Some might call it call it quaint or cozy. Others would find it cramped and horribly cluttered. Almost no matching chairs or tables in the place and, with all the bizarre odds and ends stuffed and scattered about the place, it feels more like a swap meet once in the door. I'm sure it's meant to give more of a nostalgic 'home' feel to it but I found myself more worried of where any or all of it may have come from. The largest of the tables was overrun by personal items of the staff & owner(?) and clearly not for use by the public. The outdoor table seems more for decoration than function. The rest of the tables were cluttered almost as badly. There were so many distractions I didn't even think to do my normal cleanliness check. The single bathroom was slightly cluttered as well but seemed to be well kept for the most part. It's hard to imagine what it looks like now compared to the pictures of what it once was. My better half and I had gone to their food truck at the "Taste of Buffalo". The options we got weren't bad so we tracked them down and gave them another shot. I ordered the Buffalo chicken wrap with a side of mac & cheese with bacon. My better half got a grilled cheese and tomato soup with a Reeses peanut butter tart. She said they were both quite good and wouldn't mind having the recipe for the soup. She's a big fan of tomato soups, so that's saying something. We both agree that the tart was a bit of a darker flavor than expected but turned out to be very nice. I was somewhat less impressed with my order. With all the salad and lettuce hearts stuffed into the wrap it would have been impossible to taste the chicken if not for it being completely drowned in sauce. So much so that it was almost the only thing detectable. Terrible shame because it was actually a good mix. I prefer cooked peppers myself but the ones I got were raw and numerous. I am not a fan of American cheese at all but didn't ask for any changes so as to have it as they make it. It was very cold and seriously detracted from the rest of the flavors. It almost seemed like an afterthought. Not the worst I've had but really not all that great. The tiny bowl of mac & cheese wasn't awful but it wasn't good either. The cheese tasted canned or boxed. The bacon was cooked almost to perfection but, sadly, was just as small in portion and didn't add much to improve. Considering the cost of the meal, and being from a menu for cheese aficionados, it really should have been slightly better. I will give it to the kids working the place. They were very polite and did try to seem attentive to us. One had offered to remake my wrap as the one was torn when being made. A nice gesture that does make an impression. It wasn't as bad as the bad reviews make it out to be but not as great as the the other half tend to tout. I might go back and I'd...
Read moreThey came to my worksite with their food truck. I got the “Big Phil Mac’n. It was ight. I give it a 3.5, that’s the highest rating. Just, because the Philly Cheesesteak saved the rating from getting a big fat ZER0.
The description on the menu for this dish is “Grilled Philly Steak w/peppers onions, melted mozzarella over our award winning Mac-n-Cheese”……
The Mac-n-Cheese was not “award winning” at all. It was just standard Gomiti Elbow Pasta, melted cheese and pepper. Nothing too special or “award winning” at all. It was just bland and not as cheesy as I thought it was going to be. Hence the name of the food spot “The Cheesy Chick”. I assumed it would have been really cheesy. But it tasted like the Mac n cheese was store bought or something, nothing authentic. They had me in the first half when I thought it would have been a lot of cheese due to the name of the food spot. But that was pretty “CHEESY” of me to think so.
But the Grilled Philly Cheese Steak tastes pretty great. On top of the Mac n cheese (considering I couldn’t taste the Mac n cheese all like that). The idea of mixing Mac n cheese with grilled Philly cheese steak, onions and green peppers. Was a great idea to mask the nasty BLAND-flavor of the Mac n cheese. They added BBQ sauce on top. Which gave the Philly cheese steak some additional flavor with the Mac n cheese.
(I don’t recommend ANY DISH with the Mac N Cheese). Like if you want to just have Mac n cheese with something. I recommend it. But if you are looking forward to eating the mac n cheese as your go to meal. My advice would be to give it a HARD PASS.
After ordering, I asked how much was a drink and they said $2. For a can of soda, $2 is crazy. I believe they have other options like “water and Gold Peak Tea”. But there water from their menu has a photo of “Dasani”.🤢 They definitely make a profit if someone was to buy a drink and not get the combo meal which comes with a sandwich, side and drink.
The service was excellent though. My food was ready within 10 minutes. Hand sanitizer and napkin available on site.
If you are ordering a side. The available options are: $3 Mac N Cheese
$3 Potato Salad (seasonal)
$1...
Read moreThis restaurant is a very small place so if you are a large group I wouldn't suggest coming here. The ambiance is shabby chic but not very comfortable or functional, see the pics and make your own decision. We had the Buffalo chicken grilled cheese, broccoli cheddar soup and Nutella grilled dessert. The Buffalo chicken grilled cheese, was okay but not great in my opinion. I wish and thought the chicken strips ment a crispy chicken but it was grilled chicken. That is my bad for not asking but the menue doesnt really indicate grilled or crispy it just discribes it as a chicken strip. The sandwich is called Buffalo grilled cheese but all I tasted was BBQ sauce. The bread was nicely toasted and the cheese was melted so that made me happy. The soup was average at best. The dessert was okay but being texas toast the crust made it kind of dry, I wish there was more Nutella or a thinner bread had been used.
*The owner has reached out and I am happy to see that. It is great when a owner reads the reviews as it is a great tool to aide in improvement. As for mentioning that my stuff was packed to go that is irrelevant. When placing my order my intention was indicated and always to dine in. Packing it to go was not my mistake. There was a $1 charge to take the order or free to dine in on the flyer I was handed upon arrival. As for the two star I know it is not nice to get them but they are the reviews that will challenge you to hopefully be better. I thought my review although it was a 2 was a constructive one. I indicated that the chicken either crispy or grilled is ambiguous maybe fix that. I went on to say that it was my fault for not asking. I then went on to compliment what was nice about the sandwich. As for the ambience, I have noticed many people have mentioned that they felt cramped. Rather than criticizing the reviewer use that as an opportunity to make your guests feel more comfortable. I also went on to say that using the large Texas toast and smear of Nutella the bread seemed to thick, the Nutella gets lost in how thick the bread is. I have been know to go back to places to see if things have changed for the better and given...
