Went to the pub on Monday night - it was raining and the place was a little quiet. Wonderful atmosphere. The bartender was very welcoming and we took a table next to a group of people that was at the tail end of their meal. The room was nice and cozy. My companion had the leek potato soup while I had the scotch eggs. The soup was AMAZING, but the serving was small - more like what would be a cup portion in any other place, for the price of a bowl. The scotch eggs were nice enough. For the mains, My companion had the Galway chicken with rice, while I had the Fish and Chips - very nice. The portions are a little smaller than you will find in other places. The flavors were wonderful. We were actually discussing future visits to the place at this point. So, we decided to try out the desserts. My companion had the Guiness icecream while I had the chocolate mousse cake - all down hill from there. At some point between our appetizers and mains, the people on the table next to us left. I think they switched off the heating after that. As we waited for our desserts, the room got colder and colder. My companion had to wear her jacket. I looked around the room, and my eyes fell on the heating controller - it was reading 64! No wonder we were starting to shiver. The desserts came and what a disappointment. The icecream was grainy and the mousse cake was frozen. What a waste of calories! We had ordered coffees with our dessert - it never came, and we ended up canceling the order. We were having a really nice time till the end. The fact that they did not consider us worthy enough to keep us warm said it all. The terrible deserts just underlined the problem. ...

Read moreThis place was a pleasant unexpected find during my day trip to Amityville. The bartender/server was so warm and welcoming, professional and kind and her service was just outstanding (I visited around 8:30pm 06/04/22). The food was absolutely delicious and full of flavour, I cannot recommend the wings enough (I wish I could find wings like that back home in New Zealand). I also got the fried chicken schnitzel sandwich and this was also equally delicious! An excellent range of drinks are on offer and the atmosphere is calm and friendly. Thank you so much for making my final stop on the way to the train station one to remember, I will talk and recommend this place for...
