★★★★★ Very much like mining for actual diamonds, they are often easy to miss unless you are actively searching for them. That's exactly the case with Mizu- it's a true gem of a restaurant but its extremely easy to miss while driving past, you're more likely to find this wonderful place by a google searching than by noticing it while driving past it. That's my personal experience anyway, I live less than .5 miles away, pass it almost daily and never knew it was there. The only reason I discovered this fantastic place was by searching on doordash for sushi. Looking at Mizu from the outside it may not look or seem like much but the second you walk through that door that perception goes right out the window. You are instantly greeted by a vibe of an authentic traditional Japanese Sushi bars with a modern, yet welcoming twist. I was immediately greeted and asked for a menu, I found everything to be reasonably priced. I decided to place an order for take-out and while I was waiting for my food I made a few observations. The first of those was that the sit-down portion of the restaurant was packed! That alone is usually a great sign that the food is good. Another observation I had was the noticeable cleanliness of the restaurant as a whole. The floors were spotless, the tables were clean and not sticky, and everything seemed very organized. As I sat by the sushi bar watching the expert Sushi chefs preparing my rolls, it was clear to me that they took pride in what they do. Keeping the theme of the rest of the restaurant, the chefs kept their stations spotless. For me personally, a Sushi restaurant MUST prioritize cleanliness since they are preparing dishes with raw food. It became apparent at that point that cleanliness is a big part of the culture and identity of this restaurant- Assuming that its from the top down. It should be a given that EVERY restaurant should be clean, but unfortunately that's not the case, and a large majority of them are not. Mizu doesn't fall into that category. My food was phenomenal and I would HIGHLY recommend...

Decided to eat here with my mom for my birthday. Walking in, you notice right away that the restaurant, although a bit small, is well designed. It’s clean, there are booths and tables, and the lights are nice. Coolest part, you can see the chefs preparing the sushi!
For food, I got 3 rolls: the Angry Dragon Roll, 1 Spicy Tuna, 1 Salmon Skin Roll. All 3 were fresh and absolutely delicious. I prefer less vinegar taste in my sushi rice and so this was perfect for me. The Angry Dragon was top-notch; I highly recommend!
Prices are on the higher side, but that’s fair because of the resulting quality. Sushi isn’t something that you should cheap out on, so don’t feel bad about paying these prices. I will say, though, that the desserts were a bit overpriced. The vanilla ice cream that my mom ordered was simple ice cream, and yet it was around $5. But it was delicious, and so was the Oreo Tempura that I ordered for $7: definitely a unique item too! Overall though, we paid $80 for drinks, meals, and 2 desserts for 2 people so I’m satisfied.
The best part was when my mom told the waitress in private that it’s my birthday, and the staff gave me a candle and complimentary mochi when they were bringing out the Oreo Tempura! It was a nice gesture, and a clear sign that the restaurant is willing to go the extra mile to ensure a great time for customers.
Overall, if you’re looking for a place to enjoy some authentic sushi, you likely can’t go...
Read moreThis place is AMAZING. My family and I were staying in Long Island at a hotel about 7 min away from Mizu, and we went onbthe first day we arrived. We returned for lunch the next day, and booked for dinner on our last full day. Their hot green tea is a great way to keep your stomach comfortable, and their Thai tea (big glass cup picture) was delicious, although it does water down so you might want to ask for less ice if you don't drink your drinks very quickly.
We ordered the sushi platter, which came with a roll and nigiri. We also ordered the sashimi special salad, great for health conscious people trying to get more veggies. Their broccoli is pretty plain, but a solid veggie, but their sautéed Bok Choi is a huuuuge winner! It's worth getting each time you go.
The sashimi platter is delicious and comes with rice, although you can opt out. Their miso soup comes with all the sushi platters, and is really good. We also got their ramen soup, (it has a really tasty vegetarian option), and their stir fried seafood udon, which was wonderful (there were no leftovers).
If you book ahead, as we did for Friday night, you can actually order oysters (so worth it) and lobster (never had it sashimi style before, and the accompanying dip was very refreshing).
All in all, highly recommend the food and the company. The waitresses were lovely and helpful, and the chef/owner was very personable and came to speak with us twice. Go if you love sushi and are...
