The space was nice, a very modern, millennial feel. Phone charge spots at the end of each sitting location, and the music was quite millennial as well. The music was a bit loud, but not so loud you can't hear the conversation at your table, just loud enough you cant hear the conversations at other tables. Sitting down I felt very comfortable, but it felt like a far cry from Japan, it felt very New York which was an interesting experience.
The Menu: The menu at OG Ramen is quite small, especially when I compare it to my experiences in Japan, though that is a bit unfair to American-style that OG Ramen offers. They seem to focus very strongly on what options they have, and label the food choices there as healthy, Americanized Japanese food. But there are some really good choices on the the menu from what I saw.
The Food: I went there expecting traditional Japanese ramen, to which I was disappointed. The ramen is a healthy alternative ramen or as the lady at the counter said, "an Americanized ramen" and it was quite good but also quite different from what Im used to. You could taste the difference in the first bite, but you could also taste the healthiness and lack of sodium. The broth was flavorful but not overpowering, and the bowl was full of ingredients. The pork in the bowl I had was a bit too large and could use a nice cut in half in my opinion and made it a hassle to eat that part. The bowl was more than a full meal in and of itself but everything was cooked very well though there was no ramen that particularly 'stood out' to me on the menu like at the Ninja Ramen restaurant around the block. But the ramen here did not leave you feeling bloated after eating it, only satisfyingly full, which is a positive note on their behalf. However, the absolute saving grace from my visit was the green tea pudding, an absolute godsend on their menu, especially after a hot and spicy bowl of ramen. The pudding, drizzled in a blueberry yuzu sauce, was refreshing like a sprinkler on a hot summer day, and the first bite I took I can say it turned my entire experience around. Honestly it was like everything I was eating there was only to build up to the pudding and I can easily say I would go back there again if for no other reason than to have that pudding again. The smoked green tea from Yamamoto tea was a great addition as well.
The Price: About average at $16/bowl, the food serving s were certainly Americanized as well and make the $16 pretty worth it.
I will definitely be going back there and an overall grwat experience, however I personally dont see this as a daily or...
Read moreChanged the old reveiw due the owner issuing a refund. That is appreciated. However you did not need to be so rude in your response to my initial reveiw. I did not say anything that wasn’t factual and I felt I was objective in my review.
I never said anything about the character of karren aka the new Worker. I stated how service wasn’t great, since the ramen was left at the counter for a few minutes before it was delivered to us. And also if she was training you should have had someone with her helping her to keep things moving smoothly.
Also you are checking your cameras to see who I was that is low key psycho. You are a restaurant… and you clearly can’t handle Cristian. Also we originally sat at a two person table but wanted to sit next to each other so we moved to a bench table. We were not seated by a hostess… we sat down at whatever open tables there were because it’s seat yourself situation. A large family came in and we both talked/considered moving to a smaller table to accommodate them but at the same time another table of three got up just as they came in so there was so issue.
WE finished the bowl because we paid 28$!!!! Plus a family of like 6-7 came in and I was not going to sit there and wait even longer if we ordered something else. And I’m sorry but the food was bad. I lived in China and Korea town and have had many different ramen. The taste was bland, the beef was rubbery, and the noodles over cooked so that’s objectively not cooked well?
That’s fine I understand people run out of items. It was disappointing because I love super spicy stuff.
We did ask for water and she said we have to pay for a water bottle.
I can say whatever I want to say. You are literally telling me what I can and can’t say??? Who are you and what is actually wrong with you? Imagine if anytime someone said something you didn’t like you told them they can’t say that.
I’ve made ramen at home and it cost less than 28$.
I can handle this situation how ever I please whether that be an e-mail or call or a reveiw.
Thank you for the refund though that I...
Read morebsolutely phenomenal ramen experience!
From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and full of great energy. One of the workers out front took the time to give us a detailed history of the ramen they serve, and it was clear how much care and passion goes into their food—especially when it comes to dietary needs and allergies. They even make thoughtful substitutes to accommodate people with specific restrictions, which is rare and very appreciated.
We ordered The Classic and The Beef Ramen with Shrimp. Both were outstanding! The broth was rich and flavorful, the ingredients were super fresh, and surprisingly, many of their options are gluten-free. As someone who doesn't usually go for gluten-free noodles, I was honestly blown away—they were delicious and didn't feel like a compromise at all. They even substitute soy sauce with another blend, and I’d say the flavor was about 85–90% of the traditional taste—still incredibly satisfying.
The customer service here was next-level. Everyone was upbeat, friendly, and genuinely happy to serve. The positive energy from the staff made the experience even better.
Highly recommend dining in—as with all ramen, it’s best enjoyed fresh. Prices are average for what you'd expect on Long Island, but don’t judge based on inflated delivery app prices. Eat in the store if you can. Ramen just doesn’t reheat well in the microwave, and it’s worth experiencing it fresh and hot from the kitchen.
All in all, this place was a gem. If you're a ramen lover—or even if you're just curious—do yourself a favor and check it out. You’ll leave full, happy, and probably planning...
