Railroad Bagel Express — Restaurant in Town of Babylon

Let me first state the obvious: the bagel was amazing, even though I was initially skeptical about eating it.

The service was very transactional but fast, which is ideal if you're into a fast-paced environment.

Unfortunately, during my wait, I witnessed an employee place my bagel into the toaster while wearing gloves, and then come out to grab a bottle of water from the store frigid with those same gloves to continue preparing my food.

Before the young man could proceed, I explained that, as an allied health professional, I would never use dirty gloves when working with a client. I then asked him to change his gloves.

The silent reaction from the staff suggested a sense of "how dare you correct him or tell him how to do his job."

He agreed, but in a condescending manner. Even if I was wrong, he could have simply agreed or apologized for forgetting. We are all human and prone to forgetting, especially in restaurants.

I understand he could have felt singled out but I wanted to provide context. No one is exempt from correction.

It should be a mandate to remove gloves once you leave the kitchen or food prep area.

Outstanding breakfast sandwich! I asked for a fried easy, very crispy bacon sandwich and actually received a fried easy, generous portion of very crispy bacon. This rarely happens. Such things take longer so most places just​ give you regular bacon and overcook the eggs. It seems this place is prepared in advance for such requests and I received my order super quick. The everything bagel itself was well seeded (no salt or Caraway seeds FYI) with a light crisp crunch on the outside and soft, medium textured dough on the inside. And, the guy behind the counter was sure to tell me it came w a small coffee, which is another thing most places lack. This place is very conveniently located by the train station. However, other than that, it is mostly average. The staff are all very nice and it is clearly family owned, but placing an order is extremely hard if you aren't pushy, since the place is always packed, and a lot of the people are regulars so their orders get fulfilled first. The wait time is high, mostly because the place is so packed, which is understandable.

The bagels are delicious and large, but no matter how many times I have asked for "light cream cheese," I always get a bagel so covered in cream cheese it oozes out the sides onto my hands and everywhere while I am riding on the train. Same thing with butter. I basically won't buy a bagel there anymore because of it, since I only get food there when I am catching a train and it is much too...
