This place has a very nice atmosphere and environment. The manager/owner was nice and the woman at the front who sat us was very very sweet too. Although, I recently took my girlfriend out to dinner here and there were a lot of negatives.
First, there was a special for Filet Mignon on the menu. It came with grilled shrimp, potatoes, and vegetables. I asked the waiter if it was possible to adjust the price if I chose no shrimp. He came back and said no... Kinda upset as it was an expensive plate but wasn’t too much of a big deal. However, when we were finished with our meals, our server must have walked past our table 10 times and still didn’t realize that we had our credit card ready to pay. I tried to flag him down multiple times.
I asked one of the bus boys to help out. I got his attention because we had been waiting for a long time. I assume he found and spoke to our waiter because the waiter did eventually come pick up the check and card. But, after this, he took even longer to come back with the receipt. It had probably been 20 minutes! And no it was not a busy night. Plenty of tables were open.
My girlfriend and I tried to make it more apparent by sitting on the same side of the booth noticeably waiting. The manager (and possibly owner) of the restaurant came over and asked what was going on. When I told him about the delay, I could see that he actually cared about his customer. He went to look for our waiter and sure enough, our receipt came back in adequate time.
Thank you to the manager/owner for this. As for the waiter, it seemed like he didn’t pay much attention to us. Maybe because we were a young couple and he made the inaccurate assumption that because of our age, we wouldn’t tip good? Or he completely forgot about us? Either way, we felt ignored.
I’m not sure which one it was or if it was something else but I’m just sharing my experience. I will go again but I would expect better service this time. I like to be kind and understand certain days are more busy than others or someone could be having a bad day so I never completely judge a restaurant unless I experience it at least 2 or 3 times. Will update...
Read moreFirst time party at Gemilli's .Food good, but you can get good food at most places in the area. Tuscan décor beautiful. That you won't get at most places in the area. Service? What service? Needs improvement. Head waiter Gussippe friendly but too laid back. Staff of 3 under Gussippe worked hard but did not speak at all. Not personable. Not a hello not a smile not what would you like to drink? Gussippe who was to take care of my sons table never asked what they wanted to drink. AND this party was the Christening for his son which Gussippe knew. YES they came around with the wine on a tray which was lovely and then did refill but they did not offer beer, soda or coffee or tea which was included for 57 adults and 9 children. My guests had to repeatedly ask. My son had to tell his guests Beer was included. My 10 year old grandson asked for a soda never received it. Had to ask again.. My 78 year old aunt went home to Saville never had coffee. AND I did ask 2 times! I did pay extra per cup for latte's which they made a tray of again without asking first to see who wanted one. I would have gladly paid for a 100 of them if that is what my quests wanted. At the time of the dessert I had wanted to have the cupcakes placed on all the tables when I had asked Gussippe to do this his reply was then I was taking him away from something else he was doing. I did not know that was going to be such a big deal I would have left them on the candy table. There was no cake that had to be cut they were not asking quests if they wanted coffee or tea. I have no idea what he or his staff were doing. Also I think Coffee should have come out before the dessert and then refills with the dessert. Service to me is very, very important. I did not think I had to express that in the beginning. You only have one time to impress me and I was not impressed so I will be taking my...
Read moreI recently had a very unfortunate experience at Ristorante Gamelli, a place I had long been curious about and finally decided to visit on March 30, 2024. The ambiance of the restaurant was welcoming, and I was eager to try their menu, opting for what I hoped would be a delightful dinner consisting of calamari, buffalo meatballs, and stuffed shells. Little did I know, this meal would lead to a distressing health ordeal.
Merely hours after dining, around 9/9:30 PM, I retired for the evening, only to be awoken at 11:30 PM by severe abdominal pain, accompanied by vomiting, extreme nausea, and body aches. The intensity and persistence of these symptoms were alarming enough to necessitate a visit to the emergency room on March 31, 2024, which was Easter Sunday. The situation was dire enough to require IV fluids to address dehydration caused by what was diagnosed as food poisoning.
Despite initial treatment, my condition did not improve significantly in the days following. I found myself back at the hospital due to an inability to retain food and a lingering sense of being unwell. This experience has been not only physically taxing but also emotionally draining, given the seriousness of food poisoning and its impact on my health.
I share this review not to disparage Ristorante Gamelli indiscriminately but to highlight a deeply concerning incident that others should be aware of. Food safety is paramount, and I sincerely hope that my experience is an isolated case that prompts a thorough inspection and necessary improvements to ensure it does not happen to anyone else. Please be cautious and mindful of your dining choices, especially in places where the quality and safety of the food may not...
