Taco Bell — Restaurant in Town of Babylon

Ten to fifteen years ago I would go to Taco Bell because the food was cheap. Nowadays I try not to eat a lot of fast food, but if I'm in the mood TB will usually satisfy... even though the food ain't so cheap anymore.

If you're not using the drive through, this location (and I think most others) doesn't take your order at the register anymore. You enter your order on a touchscreen menu, which is easy enough, then you pay and wait for your number to be called (which usually isn't too long). You can also order in advance from their app.

They have a fairly wide menu, ranging from the (commercialized versions) of standard Mexican fare to big multi-layer concoctions, many of which I don't think even have a counterpart in traditional Mexican cuisine. In any case, I tend to go for simpler stuff. One of my favorites is the "steak soft taco", an upgraded version of the regular ground beef taco. It's great and I think Taco Bell is one of the few fast food restaurants where you can actually get something with decent quality (though small) pieces of lean beef like this.

Even their condiments are pretty good. They have a few different packeted sauces you can try on your food, and I douse almost everything I order with their "Fire" sauce, which I dig quite a bit (BTW despite the intense-sounding name the sauce isn't particularly hot).

They also have a pretty decent selection of vegetarian items, and you can in fact customize much of their menu to your preference, which is nice.

Regarding this specific location, it's decent enough if you want to eat inside. There is almost always a table available (though finding a table I don't have to clean up myself before sitting down is another story) and the soda machine is accessible if you want to refill your cup for free.

I went to place an order through the app which I normally do but the order wouldn't go through due to an error but upon checking my bank account through my bank app the payment for said order was deducted. So I go into this Taco Bell location and explain the situation to a woman who I assume was a manager, she said my order wasn't showing up in their system. After explaining to her that I had been charged she told me she has to call someone about it and disappeared I'm guessing into the back office. When she returned she said the money would be refunded within a few hours. I explained I didn't want a refund I wanted my order in which she replied the order wasn't in their system there's nothing she can do and even threatened to call the police after I pleaded my case. Listen, I've been to retail stores where if I'm charged they honor that as proof of order. She could have given me my order. I showed her both my bank app so she could see the charge as well as the Taco Bell app so she could see the error. The issue was on their end not mine. Due to this as well as other times I've been in there and had to wait long periods of time I won't be coming back. Terrible customer service. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE! I Went through the drive-thru and asked for the $5 box chalupa meal. I didnt't know that there wasn't a box like that until the guy told me. I said all I want is 2 bix meals. He said do you want the naked chalupa, I said is that the box meal he said yes. I said just give me 2 box meals and cherry pepsi soda for both and a cinnamon twist. He said 13.01 please drive around. I get around he hands me soda moneys exchanged and then a bag. I asked what is this? He said the naked chalupa has no box. I asked so is this a bag of the box meals. He said yes. I bring home to my son and husband and apparently this is not what a meal is. They went online and showed me.
