To say, I truly enjoyed the food, is an understatement. So let me just pause and I will let the pictures speak for themselves. Scroll… keep scrolling. Can you see? … Can you see what I’m saying? … I’m not from the area but after I discovered this country-kitchen-diner-hybrid of an eatery, I just couldn’t stop myself and returned 3 consecutive days for 3 consecutive meals. So, with that said, let me see, where do I start? Ok, at the beginning it is! … … First night at this cozy and welcoming establishment was a total blast. I had the bagel with lox, onions, & cream cheese platter and hash browns which has to be the widest sandwich I’ve ever had. Yes, it came constructed in sandwich form and my mouth was just, a bit too small. But, I managed. I manage to contort the lox within the onion layers and toasted bagel, and must say, I enjoyed every wide and flavorful bite. … And flavorful it was!! Because after I was all done, I had a second one to go—I kid you not! … That night, I also had the warm apple cobbler with vanilla ice cream and caramel drizzle, and awww my, it was mouthwatering delicious. So delicious, I’m drooling just thinking about it! … … The next day I couldn’t wait and went back for another delicacy: eggs with corned beef hash and hash browns. Yes a delicacy—because in Florida no such thing exists! So it was sunny side up for me and those eggs looked beautiful indeed!!! … Yup, time to scroll down again and look at the picture-perfect eggs. Go! Go ahead. I’ll wait, lol!…. ….Sooo, I know what you’re thinking. It’s a sure thing—the avian flu has really altered our psyche on how we relate to our ritualistic, very old tradition of having eggs in the morning, at midday or like me, at nighttime too. Now a days—with the avian flu worsening—seeing eggs at a supermarket is as rare as seeing corned beef hash and hash browns at a Florida eatery. Fortunately, all this happened a couple of months back. At that time the prices at BLD were at a noticeable lower bracket than at any other eatery or even, fast food restaurant on Long Island. After almost five years in Florida, having eggs with corned beef hash and hash browns was like the old MasterCard commercial: Priceless!!!! ….. So needless to say, I returned the next day and for eggs over easy—no surprise there. … But wait, hold your thoughts. That night, the highlight was something totally unexpected—red sangria!! So, here we go again! Scroll down and just look at the luscious pictures…. Awww that fruit, that sweet and delicious fruit—truly unsurpassed by none! My only critique is, perhaps they should serve the sangria in a small carafe. The abundance of the fruit and ice consumed the volume of the oversized glass and we know how that goes! Something else that deserves a quick mention is the French Onion Soup. Definitely, not your everyday, commercially canned, engulfed in chemicals onion soup! This onion soup actually tasted fresh, like it was really homemade—perhaps it was the generous amount of cheese that melted throughout the ceramic crock that made this staple soup taste so rich. And speaking of generous, let me add, I did sample their Pinot Grigio and it was a smooth—not oaky—full tall white wine glass. Perhaps a bit too much, since I could only enjoy half a glass. … … As to the negative reviews below, I’m just as surprised as any of you. I don’t know if they changed the kitchen staff, but my experience was truly amazing. Please note, I’m quite transparent and there’s a much greater chance I will be dissatisfied or disappointed rather than, the exact opposite, and BLD is a perfect example of the...
Read moreI went to dinner at the most wonderful and amazing place today. I HIGHLY recommend it. It's definately a 5 star restaurant. I passed this resturant a bunch of times, but never tried it out till today. It is the B.L D's Resturant ( breakfast, lunch, dinner) located in Ronkonkoma at 299 Hawkins Ave. This restaurant is 100% Patriotic with numerous American flags, police flags, the flag for firemen hanging throughout, along with several plaques dedicated to all branches of the military. The restaurant is further decorated for St.Patricks Day, the upcoming holiday for the Irish, with Leprechauns hanging up at the door when you first walk in and a giant blue flag above them with the specials listed on the blackboard. The ceiling has stars, fancy silver strips, and shamrocks hanging above your head. There is lots of patriotic paraphernalia all across the restaurant shelves, windows, table tops, walls, and everywhere you look with many events in history behind it. They have Uncle Sam on a window and Christopher Columbus boat next to him. Among all this paraphernalia is a high shelf with farm animals and pottery. It gave me a really good feeling just to be there and proud to be an American. The restaurant is sparkling clean and has two main rooms that are small in size. The waitress, ( sorry I didn't get her name) , was an absolute pleasure and shared with me the fact that the Diner is always packed with Veterans and first responders every weekend. The prices were good and the menu was big with alot of selections to choose from. Breakfast is my favorite meal so I chose the waffle platter with a large walnut and banana waffle, an egg, a slice of bacon, and a sausage. Yum! If you havent been to the B.L.D.'s Restaurant , then you need to check it out and you will also agree that it is the best restaurant around and you will be a repeat customer, just like I will be now. Here are a few photos I...
Read moreI ordered the same breakfast item from them on three separate occasions (strawberry pancakes). The first time it was good... exactly what I was expecting so that was great. The second time I noticed the strawberries looked a little old and there was no powdered sugar... still it was good enough to eat so I did. I also waited about 20 minutes inside for someone to acknowledge me so I could pick up my food (not cool). But this last time I ordered that same item and the pancakes were fine but the fruit was moldy and old, with no powdered sugar. I also ordered chocolate chip pancakes for my son and there was no chocolate chips to be found... very disappointed. The first 2 times I ordered I went in to pick up. The last time I had it delivered, and all three orders were made during the week ... not sure if that matters in terms of the quality of the food. I won't be ordering from here again. There is no consistency. I'm not looking for gourmet-level food but moldy fruit is not acceptable at any level. You may get lucky like I did the first time but I honestly...
