Mangiamo Restaurant — Restaurant in Town of Brookhaven

My friends and I wanted to try someplace new for dinner before a movie and decided to give Mangiamo a shot. What a mistake. We arrived at 5:00 thinking we would have plenty of time to eat before a 6:30 movie. We almost missed the beginning. Our beverages and bread were brought to the table right away. The bread was warm but was plain bread and no butter was served with it and we didn't have plates to put our bread on. We noticed that other tables semed to get garlic bread. It took 35 minutes for our salads to arrive and they were fine. It was another 30 minutes before my friends entree arrived and another 10 minutes after that for m y entree to make it to the table. They did bring me the pasta that went with my entree and I was stunned to see and taste that it was jarred sauce on the pasta. If I were to take a guess I would say it was the Ragu of my childhood. My shrimp parm was clearly frozen, breaded shrimp with the same jarred sauce as the pasta. My friends both had the short rib special. They each spent $30 for short ribs that were over cooked and burnt. They did say the mashed potatoes were good. I was never asked if my soda needed to be refilled and because the service was so slow we had to rush to eat to make the movie. We all agreed that we woud have been much better off going to the diner...

I ordered a full tray of penne ala vodka, one half tray of baked raviolis, and chicken Francois on Dec 20. Was told if I paid 201 dollars in cash I would not have an extra fee. The delivery was supposed to be at 530pm on Christmas Eve. I had 20 guests waiting to eat before we would open presents. Relatives were very hungry and by 630 pm food had still not arrived. We tried calling all three numbers but no one would answer. My relatives went to the restaurant which h was full of very angry customers who had also not received their deliveries..there was one girl at the register who was crying. She would not let us speak to the owners. She said they were cooking. We were told no deliveries would be made as the driver walked off the job. It was a mob scene of angry customers. We received our money back but Christmas was ruined for us. We instead had sandwiches which is not very special for Christmas Eve..we were not offered any compensation for this atrocity. imagine this is Christmas Eve! You should be ashamed of yourself. Not even a phone call to let us know food would not be coming. If you’re smart, don’t ever use this restaurant. Albert’s is across the street. Responsible owners and delicious food...

This was my 1st dinner at Mangiamo Restaurant. Unfortunately, I don't think I will be returning. I ordered a seltzer water with lemon, the lemon looked like it had seen better days. I was shocked they would actually use a lemon looking like that. I really wanted to give a good rating, but I just can't. The start off was garlic bread made with butter and garlic powder & melted mozzarella. When I opened the menu & saw the prices, I said I hope the food will be amazing for $30 or more a plate. I continued to stay positive and ordered chicken marsala, with sautéed broccoli & Cesar salad on the side. I am not here to tare the restaurant apart but for $30+ for a dinner, and you serve watery microwaved broccoli & chicken served in brown gravy and canned mushrooms & no marsala... I'm highly disappointed. This is NOT CUISINE. It angered me what they are charging customers and not giving them their money's worth. I bought takeout for my husband, fettuccine Alfredo, with grilled chicken. We got noodles and warm watery cream. The pasta wasn't even fettuccine. The best part of my meal was the Italian cheesecake they bought from...
