I went to McDonald's today at about 2 P.M. after having no issue there for a very long time; I frequently get food here but after today I will most likely never go back.
I have never been more blatantly condescended to by an employee. The older woman at the drive-thru (who only referred to me as "bud") held out the card machine and tried to have me swipe, but I assumed since it was a gift card there was a different procedure so I went to hand it to her. This resulted in her explaining to me three times, demonstrating, and providing an extremely condescending tutorial on how to swipe a card, which didn't end up working for her either, which was the entire reason I was handing it to her.
Then, she tried to take my order and refused to take my gift card because it was not initially scanning after trying it twice. Last time we came here, the same thing happened, but a different employee took our order and knew to simply type in the gift card's code and pin for it to work. I let the worker know this, but she continued to ignore me and talk over me, repeating over and over that I'd need to get a refund for the gift card on the website with the receipt I had, but this was obviously not true since we were helped before in the same situation and were able to use the exact same card.
I don't want to be a Karen about this situation but it was extremely rude and made me feel awful for simply trying to pay for my food. I don't think the customer is always right by any means--sometimes, especially in fast-food, customers can be demanding and rude--but that was not the case here. It's just hard to see a situation where this behavior is justified. Just really...
Read moreThe only saving grace of this visit was that the staff was composed, friendly and genuinely helpful. The renovation did not take into account what people go to 'fast food' restaurants for. This restaurant is smaller, slower, and even more poorly laid out than any McDonald's I'd ever been to. We visited this location on a Saturday afternoon for a quick bite. Couldn't tell where the lines began and ended, neither could anyone else in the place. Used the deplorable kiosk system, I regretted every one of the 10 minutes required to place an order for 5 people. Took a 'table tent' as we planned to dine-in. About 40 minutes later our order comes out. FORTY MINUTES. Drinks are not there. Special orders (no cheese) are apparently too difficult to execute. Asking for KETCHUP earns you strange stares and the bewildered staff disappears for a full 2 minutes searching for packets. We received at least one sandwich belonging to another table.
Here are a few tips: Fast food means NOT waiting more than 5 minutes for an order, no matter how busy the place is. Ketchup is not a protected commodity: it should be readily accessible, in cup or packet form, near the napkins and straws.
McDonald's, you are NOT a full-service or even a quick-service restaurant. You are fast food. You can't redesign a restaurant around a new concept when you can't carry out the basic goal of producing inexpensive food in a timely manner for customers with admittedly low...
Read moreWent to get my usual breakfast meal, steak egg and cheese bagel with a coffee. Order came out to 9.29 plus tax. Pulled up greeted by a nice older lady, (she’s always amazing and energetic and welcoming) and paid. Pulled up to the second window and Spanish lady gives me my meal. I checked the bag and noticed there was only a bagel in there and no hash brown. I asked her where my hash brown was. She stated “you only pay for sandwich”. I was like no, I paid for the meal. I know because I used to work at McDonald’s when I was younger and that I always paid the same amount for the meal. She then proceeded to ask me if I want a hash brown. I said yes, and she pulled out the card reader and said $2.70. I was like whatever. Tapped my card and paid for the “extra” hash brown I wanted. I then checked the mobile app while she went to get my “extra” hash brown and confirmed that it was in fact $9.29 for the combo. I showed her but she refused to look. She said “I don’t know who took your order but I know better” “if there was hash brown it would say hash brown on the receipt” the item clearly stated Ml at the end, meaning meal, and drink uncharge for the coffee meaning you ordered a meal and was up charged for a premium drink. If it was just a sandwich it would say the full price for the drink. She was like ok fine I give you extra hash brown with a nasty attitude. I will never let this lady work my drive thru if I ran...
