Thai Shack East in Selden is what I’ve been looking for a long time— authentic, food-centered and personable. I’ve lived in South Asia for years, and I’ve gotten used to the unpretentious vibe of the local restaurants, where food is simple and delicious.
The menu selection is very well-balanced between different choices of protein, healthy veggies and various blends of spices. You can have a nice traditional meal, or you can try something out of the box. Out of the box is usually how I go, because I look for something unique and authentic in my choice of recipes.
This family owned Thai food spot is the perfect answer to the more bland food options in Eastern Long Island. It spices up the atmosphere without being too predictable, like most Thai or other Asian restaurants catering to an uniformed public. Kay is a fun personable owner, who truly looks out for her customers.
We ordered the ginger tilapia and one of the curries, both were full of flavor and good size portions. We will be eating here on a regular basis because it has become increasingly rare to find restaurant owners that care about how they prepare their food and how they greet their customers.
Don’t pay any attention to the negative comments, it’s either someone trying to undermine a good thing, or someone who can’t tell a good thing from their own reflection.

Read moreThai Shack East is hands down the best Thai restaurants we've ever experienced, and that's coming from someone who spent a month exploring the diverse culinary landscapes of Thailand. My wife and I have tried every noodle dish on the menu, and while they are all exceptional, the Drunken Noodle is our absolute favorite.
What sets this place apart is the incredible freshness of the ingredients and the perfect balance of flavors. Every dish is a masterclass in the five fundamental tastes: sweet, salty, sour, bitter, and umami. It’s rare to find a restaurant where every bite is a flavor explosion, but Thai Shack East delivers consistently.
The staff here is just as impressive as the food. They are always polite, courteous, and genuinely dedicated to making sure your dining experience is nothing short of amazing. A special shoutout to Kay, who has quickly become one of our favorite people. She goes above and beyond to ensure that every meal is out of this world.

Read moreDear followers and review seekers. This is one of my most honest true reviews. If you look at my profile, you can see that I have and will travel the world for new and delicious food 😋. This please a one of the worst fast food, eat in food, take out food that I have ever consumed. I ordered Thai chicken wings, the worst ever. I order chicken wings everywhere I dine because it is something that is easy to make and season if you care about the food you serve, Horrible!!! Next on the menu, the triple pad Thai noodles, no favor on any of the ingredients in that dish, so I guess they believe to make it Thai, they added fish sauce. Fish sauce has a strong smell that is used improperly. i smell disgusting. We had a few other dishes. It was terrible. Please stay clear of this place. Never had this type of disappointment at a...
